Why Jhon Duran’s £65m move to Al-Nassr could impact Wolves before transfer deadline day

One transfer domino effect could impact Wolves before the transfer window slams shut on Monday, February 3rd.

Vitor Pereira still has a proverbial mountain to climb before he’s satisfied with his Wolves squad, having only signed Emmanuel Agbadou from Reims so far.

It was exclusively revealed that Wolves want three more players, though two of those are expected to be on loan, with Fosun refusing to loosen the purse strings once more.

Pereira’s priority target is defender Kevin Danso, who has been the subject of two rejected bids, while the Old Gold have also held talks with Volodymyr Brazhko from Dynamo Kyiv.

Wolves are readying themselves for a frantic end to the transfer window in terms of incomings but there could also be further activity out of the club.

Aston Villa weighing up Matheus Cunha transfer as Jhon Duran closes in on Al-Nassr move

Wolves forward Matheus Cunha has still been the subject of transfer speculation before the transfer window slams shut.

As many as six Premier League clubs want to sign Cunha, who is valued at £80 million, including Arsenal, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa.

Arsenal have moved on from Cunha as they pursue a transfer for Ollie Watkins and that is great news for Pereira. However, according to The Guardian, Villa are weighing up a move for the Wolves talisman as Jhon Duran closes in on a £65 million move to Al-Nassr.

Duran’s goal-scoring talents exploded into life this term, with the 21-year-old finding the net 12 times in 29 appearances under Unai Emery.

The Colombian forward departing would open up a void in the striker department at Villa Park and that could see Emery launch a late bid for Cunha.

That being said, Wolves are adamant Cunha stays beyond the transfer window and are unlikely to part ways with the 25-year-old who holds the key to survival.

Cunha must turn up for Wolves against Aston Villa

Wolves host Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday night in a huge fixture at the top and bottom of the Premier League table.

While Pereira’s men are looking to escape the bottom three, Villa are embroiled in a battle for Europe, currently sitting in eighth position.

Last time out, Wolves lost 1-0 against Arsenal as Joao Gomes was shown a red card for his challenge on Jurrien Timber.

Gomes’ sending-off alongside Myles Lewis-Skelly stole the headlines but Cunha’s under-par performance was also disappointing.

Lee Naylor criticised Cunha’s work rate, a point that Pereira made about the 25-year-old recently. The Brazilian was nowhere near as influential as Wolves needed him to be.

Perhaps with speculation over his long-term future hanging in the balance his mind was elsewhere however, in a match against their rivals, the game-changing attacker must turn up and prove his Arsenal display was just a one-off.
