We look at why Brentford manager Thomas Frank is wrong in his assessment of Wolves in their 4-1 victory over his side.
Gary O’Neil’s side travelled to the capital on Wednesday night and oversaw a sensational win against the Bees.
Wolves quickly went 2-0 up in the game thanks to goals from Mario Lemina and Hwang Hee-Chan before Yoane Wissa quickly reduced the deficit. Hwang soon got another before half-time and then Jean-Ricner Bellegarde rounded off the victory in the second period to make it 4-1.
It was an emphatic display as Wolves earned their biggest victory since the 3-0 win against Liverpool last season. It was also the first time the club had scored four away goals since their 4-4 draw against Swansea in 2012.
Brentford were also particularly poor during the game and made numerous mistakes throughout which ultimately cost the side.
However, Frank saw the match differently and believes a different scoreline would have been far more fair on his side.
Brentford manager Thomas Frank insists that ‘it wasn’t a 4-1 game’

Looking back on the game Frank believes that the 4-1 scoreline was harsh on Brentford.
In fact, he insisted that his side actually played well in the Premier League fixture and it was just one of those days for his side.
Frank stated: “We lost a game that was never a 4-1 defeat. Of course, we didn’t help ourselves, but that happens. We made a couple of big mistakes and two other avoidable goals that we normally don’t give away.
“We need to give credit to Wolves on two of the goals – but they’re still avoidable goals, from my perspective.
“Besides that, it sounds strange, but we performed quite well. We created quite a few big chances and a lot of dangerous situations that really didn’t tip our way.
“It’s one of these days where when it rained, it poured.”
Wolves could have had more goals

While it is true that two of Wolves’ goals came from direct mistakes, the visitors had plenty of other chances to score during the game.
Midway through the first half, Nelson Semedo ripped through the Brentford backline but a decision to pass to Hwang stopped Wolves from scoring.
In the second half, Matheus Cunha also had an amazing chance to score as he struck the post from an incredible run.
Looking at Brentford’s opportunities, they did have chances but after the hour mark these mainly dried up with Wolves defending extremely well.
Jose Sa didn’t really have to make any particularly difficult stops either with the ‘keeper fairly comfortable after Wissa’s goal.
As for the mistakes from former Wolves player Nathan Collins, you cannot disregard the goals just because they came from errors.
Hwang did fantastically well for Wolves’ second to quickly close down the ‘keeper and steal the ball from underneath his feet.
The final goal also came from great anticipation from Cunha to intercept Collins’ pass before squaring it to Bellegarde.
In the Premier League, the team who takes its chances deserves to win the game.
