Dave Edwards has raved over Ruben Neves, suggesting he is Wolves’ player of the Season so far.
The former Molineux midfielder has sung the Portugal midfielder’s praises in his column for the Express & Star this morning.
The 24-year-old was absolutely sensational against West Ham United.
It was only the latest in a string of fine displays for Neves in 2021/22.
He is seriously flourishing under Bruno Lage, who is trying to instil a new, possession-based style of football at Molineux.
Neves is definitely catching the eye at the moment, but him being the Player of the Season so far is perhaps debatable.
Here are three other players who may like a word following Edwards’ claim:
The Mexican striker has been absolutely superb this season, to the relief of football fans far and wide.
It was up in the air whether he would play football again after his horror injury last season.
And once it was known he would definitely be returning, many were wondering how he’d fare after going through such a harrowing incident.
Well, he has been fantastic. And he does not appear to be at all fazed after what happened.
He’s putting himself about and challenging for aerial balls like nothing ever happened.
His link-up play has been superb and of course, he has found his goalscoring touch again, netting against Southampton, Everton and West Ham United.
Jose Sa signed in the summer as Rui Patricio’s replacement for just under £7 million.
Many were sceptical about the decision to replace Portugal’s number one with an uncapped player from the Greek Super League.
But what an inspired move it was.
Sa has been simply brilliant for Wolves, and has regularly showcased a fantastic all-round game.
He is one of the top-performing goalkeepers so far this season, along with the likes of Edouard Mendy and Aaron Ramsdale.
He’s had a couple of dicey moments, sure, but the positives far outweigh the negatives.
Sa’s distribution is particularly good, and will potentially be a dangerous weapon for Wolves in the future – he already has one assist this term.
Kilman is, without doubt, a contender to be Wolves’ Player of the Season so far.
He has played every single minute of every game so far this season, and on the right of a back three, too.
The left-footed star looks completely comfortable there, and has regularly been seen bring the ball out of defence to get the team up the pitch.
He’s been solid in all aspects of defending, and has been wonderful in his distribution.
Without question, this man should now be in the England squad along with Conor Coady.
