What Wolves have just done with Pedro Lima may now seal one player’s Molineux exit

Wolves are set for a busy month – and the club have today officially announced the return of Pedro Lima from his loan spell at FC Porto.

It is the first transfer window for Matt Jackson in his role as technical director, and there is plenty to do for him and the recruitment team.

Wolves are looking to bring in a handful of new players who can strengthen the team, but also be suitable for the second tier if Wolves go down.

Wolves fans, which of these positions do Wolves need to strengthen the most urgently? 🤔 Let us know below!

These positions have been reported in a new article by Sky Sports…

There will likely also be some sales.

But today, Wolves officially signed off on a decision to bring back Pedro Lima from his loan at Porto.

And potentially this could prompt some activity with two other players back at Wolves.

Pedro Lima return could see either Ki-Jana Hoever or Jackson Tchatchoua leave Wolves

Lima returns to Wolves having not made a single appearance for Porto.

He went there on transfer deadline last summer, and the plan was for Lima to play for their B team, before hopefully making an impact in the first-team.

Unfortunately that didn’t happen, and Lima is now back at Compton, Wolves have confirmed.

And his return may well cast doubt on the futures of Jackson Tchatchoua and Ki-Jana Hoever, who have both come in for criticism from fans this season.

Neither has nailed down the right wing-back position, meaning there could be an opportunity for Lima to stake his claim.

We have already seen Rob Edwards put his faith in youth this season with Mateus Mane now dazzling for Wolves.

Like Mane, Lima got a taste of first-team action last season, but perhaps Edwards will look to integrate him.

After Wednesday’s game with Everton, Wanderers face Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup which feels like a game where Lima may be given minutes.

Hoever more likely to leave

Tchatchoua was linked with an exit from Wolves recently, with it being claimed that Juventus and Inter Milan could be possible destinations for him.

But it feels like Hoever is the player who’d be more likely to leave out of the two, if the plan is indeed to integrate Lima. Lima has been linked with Atletico Mineiro, but it remains to be seen if Edwards will give him a chance.

Hoever, unfortunately, still hasn’t proven himself at Wolves nearly six years after signing for the club, and at this point, it’s hard to see him coming good.

He had Nelson Semedo ahead of him most of the time, but now he’s got Tchatchoua ahead of him and still hasn’t been able to get in, making just eight appearances this term.

Since his contract is actually up at the end of the season, it would be no surprise if the Dutchman was sold in this window before he is able to depart for free in the summer.
