What Harry Wilson just did may leave Wolves fans further furious with Vitor Pereira

Much has been made of Wolves’ recruitment in the summer – and Harry Wilson looks like a case of missed opportunity.

Wolves saw lots of top players leave the club in 2024/25, and it was always going to be a huge window for the club.

In the end, Wolves brought in six new players from overseas, and arguably only one has made an impression so far in Ladislav Krejci.

Wolves restructured the recruitment division that saw Domenico Teti come in, replacing Matt Hobbs.

He and Vitor Pereira were given a lot of control over Wolves recruitment – and there have been reports regarding players who were overlooked.

David Brooks was apparently a player Hobbs wanted to sign for Wolves, but nothing materialised.

And another player who was credited with interest was Harry Wilson – who has just scored yet another terrific goal.

A report from The Athletic claimed that Wolves were interested in a few players who ultimately never came to Molineux.

Josh Brownhill was on the club’s list, as was Kyle Walker-Peters – two players who have both played in the Premier League.

And it was also suggested Fulham’s Harry Wilson was on the list of targets. But Pereira rejected the chance to push for all of these players.

And it is looking like Wolves really missed out on Wilson.

On Sunday, he scored a superb goal against Crystal Palace, exchanging passes with none other than former Wolves striker Raul Jimenez before scoring with an impudent strike with the outside of his left foot into the far corner.

The goal, which can be viewed via the official Sky Sports Premier League account on X was a show of serious quality in the final third that Wolves fans simply have not seen this season.

It is just the latest superb goal from Wilson, who has established a reputation for having an eye for the spectacular.

Wilson is the exact kind of player Wolves need

Wolves look to have missed a trick not pushing hard for Wilson in the summer.

The Wales international is steadily building one serious goal catalogue, and is clearly someone who is a major threat in and around the penalty area.

It seems he wasn’t a player Pereira fancied, with the Portuguese and Teti preferring to look at players from overseas.

Pereira, as we know, also seemed to prefer players with more physical attributes, rather than technicians like Wilson.

At the moment, Wolves cannot buy a goal, let alone a point, and Wilson really does feel like the exact kind of player the Old Gold need right now.
