Vitor Pereira’s treatment of Fer Lopez this season has been baffling

Fer Lopez’s creativity is exactly what Wolves have been missing this season, and that makes it extremely confusing when the Spaniard is consistently left on the bench by Vitor Pereira.

At the moment, it feels like we have learnt that Pereira does not rate Fer Lopez, and that makes it strange as to why he was signed in the first place.

The Spaniard is a risk taker in attack, and with Wolves struggling to create opportunities for their forwards such as Jorgen Strand Larsen, it’s quite baffling that he has barely played.

You have to feel for Fer Lopez, as he will be less than happy that his head coach seemingly does not trust him.

It is even more bizarre after Pereira compared Fer Lopez to Arda Guler.

Fer Lopez cannot be happy with constant Vitor Pereira snubs

Vitor Pereira’s decision-making this season has left a lot to be desired. The Old Gold are crying out for a spark in attack, and yet he decides to leave one on the bench.

Fer Lopez must be sitting wondering what he has done wrong because, to fans, it is bewildering as to why he has started just one Premier League match.

Liam Keen suggested the player was a risk to play against Burnley due to his inexperience, but at this stage, his talent has to be the priority when considering his selection.

The qualities that he offers, including progressive passes and creating chances, are some of the best in the Wolves squad.

Additionally, in the above metrics, he outranks Matheus Cunha over the last year in two, with the Brazilian beating him in Shot Creating Actions with 4.66.

That is not to say that Fer Lopez is currently at the level of the now Manchester United forward because he is clearly not.

However, it highlights the creative nature of the Spaniard’s game.

Fer Lopez must play the next two matches for Wolves

Over the next two games against Chelsea and Fulham, Fer Lopez has to play.

He must be given a chance to prove Vitor Pereira wrong to exclude him so far, and with the Wolves head coach’s job on the line, he has nothing to lose by trying to bring some more excitement to the Old Gold’s attack.

He may need to make a slight tactical adjustment to fit Lopez in as a number 10, but it could be highly beneficial.

Let’s hope Vitor takes that risk and Lopez finally gets consistent minutes.
