Vitor Pereira seemingly refused to give Mateus Mane a chance to shine for him at Wolves, and Rob Edwards is proving him wrong in that decision.
Mane has completely changed the outlook of Wolves’ attack. They look less scared going forward, have much more energy, and actually look like they can score goals.
It is no coincidence this has come with the introduction of the young talent, and Rob Edwards has spoken about how that shows Mane’s leadership qualities, despite his lack of experience.
Things may have been different if Vitor Pereira trusted Mateus Mane in the weeks leading to his sacking, but the Portuguese may deserve some plaudits for one thing he did with the academy star.
Mateus Mane is said to be contracted to Wolves until 2029, not 2027! Thoughts, Wolves fans?
It's been claimed today that Wolves tied him down to an extended deal when he turned 18 👀
Vitor Pereira says he pushed for new Mateus Mane contract

Earlier in the summer, Mateus Mane signed his first professional deal with Wolves, and former head coach Vitor Pereira claimed credit for that decision back in October.
At the time, Pereira said, “It was me that pushed the club to keep Mane and his contract. I believe he will be a top player in this league, not only at our club but in the league.”
However, now, it has come out that the young talent actually signed an unannounced contract back when he turned 18 in September.
Valid or outright crazy? Where do you place Mateus Mane among academy graduates at Wolves?
Early days, but the signs are so promising!
This keeps him at the club until 2029. If Vitor Pereira is telling the truth in his claim, then the former head coach certainly deserves some of the credit for this decision if he was truly the one who pushed the club to keep him longer at Molineux.
But, at the same time, it did seem like the obvious choice to make considering how highly rated Mateus Mane is at Wolves, and it may have been one that was eventually taken anyway.
Vitor Pereira failed to make the obvious decision with Mateus Mane
To this day, it is still hard to understand why Vitor Pereira did not opt to give Mateus Mane a run in the team.
During the final few months of his tenure, the Old Gold could not score goals, and they looked defunct in attack.
Introducing a young prospect with it all to prove would have provided his side with a breath of fresh air, and now Rob Edwards is gaining the benefits of a decision Pereira should have made.
Mane is clearly ready for the Premier League level, impressing against giants such as Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool, all of which were away from home.
And Wolves look much better for it.
