Vitor Pereira could be about to make bold decision for Chelsea clash after team news

We’re getting to that point in the season for Wolves where Vitor Pereira has to make some bold calls, and the pieces are in place for him to do so against Chelsea.

The league has been a source of misery for Wolves this season, but they have fared much better in the Carabao Cup.

Their opening two ties against West Ham and Everton are the only wins Wolves have managed, and they will be hoping that uncharacteristic hot streak can continue.

Enzo Maresca has plans to rest Chelsea stars, but the strength in depth they possess means that won’t do much to weaken the side. Wolves will need to be so much better than in recent outings, and an injection of new blood could be on the cards.

Mateus Mane news sets up a Wolves call-up against Chelsea

18-year-old Mateus Mane has been on fire for the Wolves under-21s this season, and fans have been wondering why he isn’t getting a chance for the first team.

Wolves have been crying out for something fresh in attack, but his name is yet to be called.

That could be about to change, though.

Pereira spoke about Mane’s situation ahead of Burnley, and had only good things to say. When the team news for Wolves’ U-21 clash with PSV came out on Tuesday, and Mane’s name was absent, it fuelled speculation about a potential inclusion for the upcoming cup tie.

Mane has been the shining light in the youth side this campaign, so for him not to feature surely means he’s wanted by Pereira this week.

Wolves’ starting XI against Chelsea will likely see a new-look front line as they attempt to find solutions for the poor displays of late, and the youngster could be called upon. It would be great to see.

Enso Gonzalez on target for Wolves U-21s against PSV

Even without their star man, the under-21s pulled off a convincing 2-0 win against PSV on Tuesday.

After playing a starring role for Paraguay at the U20 World Cup, Enso Gonzalez has returned to England and continued his fine form. He grabbed Wolves’ opener with a clever dink over the keeper.

Now 20, Gonzalez is another youngster knocking on Pereira’s door, and he will also be desperate to get his chance after dealing with a nasty injury.

It’s true. Playing these academy stars at this pitiful time for the club could damage confidence and set them up for failure, but with how the starting attackers have performed for Wolves this season, it’s obvious that a change is needed.

Gonzalez won’t be at Molineux tomorrow night, but all the signs point to Mane at least making the bench. At that point, why not play him?
