Wolves fans are getting fed up with their team being ill-prepared for a Premier League season, with one issue potentially stinging Vitor Pereira.
The start of the 2025/26 campaign is just over three weeks away, and currently, Wolves are targeting four more signings before the window shuts.
Worryingly, despite losing a raft of first-team stars – most notably Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri – the Old Gold have only successfully got two deals over the line, seeing Fer Lopez and Jhon Arias join the club.
Vitor Pereira wanted the bulk of his signings made before the start of the season in August, but as it stands, the Portuguese boss is under-equipped in multiple positions.
That is largely because Fosun is unwilling to unfasten the purse strings and invest in the squad, something Gary O’Neil experienced during his time at the club.

Wolves lack of centre-back depth could come back to bite them
Wolves need improvements across the pitch, most notably at left wing-back, right wing-back, central midfield and striker.
Fans are worried about the lack of depth in the squad after losing 3-1 to RC Lens on Wednesday night, as many players were deemed not good enough.
While the above positions must be filled, Wolves wanted a left-sided centre-back earlier in the window, with Pereira eyeing competition for Toti Gomes.
Sadly, despite Nasser Djiga joining Rangers and youngster Bastien Meupiyou departing for Alverca, interest in signing a centre-back has cooled, and that could be a mistake.
Wolves current centre-back options |
Emmanuel Agbadou |
Toti Gomes |
Matt Doherty |
Santiago Bueno |
Yerson Mosquera |
The Wanderers have five centre-back options, but with Matt Doherty ageing, Yerson Mosquera returning from an injury, and Santiago Bueno deemed too weak, they arguably need to invest in that position to replace Djiga.
There is also the prospect of Emmanuel Agbadou heading to AFCON in December, and that would leave a gaping hole in defence.

Gary O’Neil was hit hard by lack of defensive depth
Wolves went winless in their opening 10 Premier League matches last term, and a lot of their struggles boiled down to a lack of defensive depth.
Max Kilman was sold to West Ham in the summer, yet the club failed to replace him, and they paid the price when Mosquera suffered an ACL injury.
It meant O’Neil had to rely on the likes of Craig Dawson and Bueno against pacey opposition attackers, which resulted in Wolves being exploited.
So, it was Fosun’s lack of planning in the transfer window that left Wolves short last year, rectifying their mistakes with the January addition of Agbadou after sacking O’Neil.
To learn from their previous mistakes, surely they have to sign a centre-back to challenge the current starting trio and reduce the problems that will emerge once Agbadou is on international duty.
