The dust still hasn’t settled from Wolves’ FA Cup defeat to Bournemouth as a result of Matheus Cunha’s actions.
Cunha was sent off following a clash with Milos Kerkez in the final moments of extra-time, receiving a straight red card to collect a three-match ban.
Vitor Pereira must now find a way to cope without Wolves’ star player, who is responsible for a hefty percentage of the Old Gold’s goals this season.
Amid a relegation battle, Cunha’s behaviour has been slammed by many in the media, as well as fans, who feel let down by the forward’s inability to keep his cool.

Matheus Cunha charged by the FA for ‘improper’ actions vs Bournemouth
Not only does the suspension have an impact on Pereira’s squad for the next three games but, Cunha’s actions are already a concern for interested clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.
The situation was as petulant as it was avoidable, with Wolves set to suffer at the hands of the 25-year-old’s negligence.
After a nightmare ending to the FA Cup defeat, there’s even more bad news for the West Midlands club, as Cunha received an FA charge for his actions upon leaving the pitch.
In a statement, it was revealed that the Wolves ace has until Monday 10th March to respond to the disciplinary.
“Matheus Cunha has been charged following the FA Cup tie between Wolverhampton Wanderers and AFC Bournemouth on Saturday 1st March.
“It’s alleged that the forward acted in an improper manner around the 121st minute of the fixture after his dismissal. Matheus Cunha has until Monday 10th March to provide a response.”
Cunha not only clashed with Kerkez on the eventful outing on the South Coast but also with staff on the sidelines, in what were ugly scenes that have now been punished by the FA.
Two possible outcomes of Cunha ban
It was only in December that Cunha was banned by the FA for his involvement in more ugly scenes at the end of Wolves’ clash with Ipswich Town.
As a result of this being his second charge in quick succession, some Wolves fans are fearing the worst, with two possible outcomes outlined based on other incidents this season.
Former Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran received an FA charge for his ‘improper’ behaviour after being sent off at St James’ Park, where the Colombian lashed out at a water bottle.
Duran did not receive an extended ban from action but, was fined £15,000 for his actions.
Another scenario was Mohammed Kudus’ FA ban for his violent conduct during West Ham’s meeting with Tottenham.
It must be noted that Kudus’ charge was more serious than Cunha’s as he was punished for conducting himself in an ‘improper manner and/or using violent conduct’.
The Ghanaian was handed a two-game extended ban and a hefty £60,000 fine for his bust-up with Micky van de Ven.
Every case is different but, the two scenarios give a slim insight into what Wolves could expect from Cunha’s charge, whether it be a dreaded extended ban or, just a fine.
