Wolves are seven points clear of the relegation zone after yesterday’s 2-0 win over Brentford – and Toti Gomes was outstanding again.
Wanderers are almost over the line now, with the team pulling out two fantastic performances in the last couple of games.

The question was if Wolves would be able to follow up the 1-0 win over Chelsea.
They certainly did that, beating Brentford 2-0 at Molineux with a fantastic performance.
Diego Costa grabbed his first goal for the club, and Hwang Hee-chan again scored off the bench – the third time he has done that now this season.
Undoubtedly, it was one of Wolves’ best displays of the season, and there were many excellent individual performances.
But, a word for Toti.
Julen Lopetegui started him at left-back once again. And the 24-year-old absolutely delivered in what is his second position.
We have come to learn that Toti is solid defensively. But against Brentford, he was actually very impressive going forwards.

It was Toti that put the ball into the box to find Costa for the opening goal.
To see him charging up the pitch like that was amazing, and something Wolves fans are more accustomed to seeing from the likes of Hugo Bueno and Rayan Ait-Nouri.
That he has that in his locker bodes very well indeed for him. Because he is a much better defender than the other two.
Toti Gomes is a shining example to the whole Wolves squad
It is so good to see Toti finally having his moment in the spotlight.
This is a player who was playing in the Swiss league not so long ago. He only returned to Wolves in January 2022 to provide cover amid a centre-back shortage. But he would ended up sticking around after impressing.
Opportunities have been a little scarce for him. He was behind Conor Coady, Romain Saiss, Max Kilman and Willy Boly in the pecking order last season.
And for most of this term he has had Kilman, Nathan Collins and Craig Dawson ahead of him.
But he got that chance at left-back against Nottingham Forest and seized it with both hands.
Wolves have picked up seven points in the three games Toti has started. And the team have conceded just one goal.

He’s had a major impact on the team and helped make things more solid.
When he plays, he looks like he’s been playing in the Premier League for many years. Not someone who has made just 14 appearances in the competition to date.
Toti is a shining example to the rest of his teammates.
It is very competitive at the moment at Wolves and there are many quality players on the books. It is going to mean top players will be overlooked by the manager.
Toti has been overlooked plenty of times over the past year or so. He’s had to be very patient. But he has never once complained, and for that he is probably now one of the most popular players at the club. And most importantly, he’s finally getting the chance he’s deserved.
