With 2024 now underway, here are three Wolves players that you forgot were still at the club.
Gary O’Neil has done a fantastic job so far this season. Wolves were tipped to go down by many. Yet, at the halfway point in the season, the manager has guided the Molineux club to just three points off the European spots.
This is despite the fact that Wolves were forced to sell much of their squad throughout the summer to comply with FFP. This saw captain Ruben Neves leave the club among multiple other first-team names.
However, despite these challenges, O’Neil has arguably got his squad playing the best football Wolves fans have seen in years. The 3-0 win over Everton at the end of 2023 was fantastic to watch.
With many players now unavailable due to international call-ups and suspensions, O’Neil’s squad is a bit bare in January. However, here are three forgotten players at the club that the manager may look towards over the next month.
Yerson Mosquera

Signed in 2021, Yerson Mosquera hasn’t seen much of the pitch at Wolves. His only appearance for the club came against Spurs in the EFL Cup where he was forced off the pitch on his debut with a hamstring injury.
Since then, the 22-year-old has been sent out on loan to MSL side FC Cincinnati where he found success over the past year. This saw the defender and the club win the Supporter Shield in 2023.
However, the defender has now returned from his loan and was an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw against Brentford in the FA Cup. A loan to the Championship looks the likely destination for the Mosquera this month but O’Neil may still find a place for him in the first-team yet.
Tom King

Wolves’ first signing last summer, Tom King is yet to make a competitive first-team appearance under O’Neil this season.
After spending most of his career in League Two, the goalkeeper left Northampton at the end of the 2022/23 season and joined Wolves.
Used mainly as a third ‘keeper to Jose Sa and Dan Bentley, King has made it onto the bench in recent games. Sa’s injury in December as well as Bentley’s absence in the FA Cup tie v Brentford meant that the 28-year-old was used as the back-up for the fixtures.
However, whether O’Neil opts to bring on the ‘keeper for his competitive Wolves debut this season remains to be seen.
Ki-Jana Hoever

Ki-Jana Hoever has spent the last year and a half out on loan. The right-back who joined from Liverpool in 2020 was a squad player for the Molineux side, mainly used as a backup to Nelson Semedo.
However, with appearances limited and the youngster still having plenty of potential, he was sent out on loan to PSV in 2022. He then joined Stoke on loan in January 2023 where he still remains.
The 21-year-old has done well at the Potters and has scored five Championship goals for the side over the past year. If he keeps these performances up, O’Neil may want to look at the defender next summer and keep him in for the 2024/25 season.
