Three Molineux stars Wolves would really come to regret losing, including Nelson Semedo

There are a number of players who have moved on from Wolves in recent times who the club may have some regrets over.

Player sales at Molineux are inevitable, especially big ones, as Fosun seek to sell high after buying low.

The ownership model, that seeks to get Wolves to become self-sustaining, is not popular amongst fans, who feel that it doesn’t allow the club to push on and reach the next level.

In the last few years, there have been some really painful player exits, such as Ruben Neves and Pedro Neto.

But even players like Conor Coady and Romain Saiss leaving are now difficult ones for fans to stomach having seen how poor Wolves have been defensively since they left.

Here are three players from the current squad who Wolves may come to regret losing.

Nelson Semedo

He’s not a player who Wolves would sell next summer, as his contract is expiring and he would therefore leave as a free agent, but Wolves could regret losing Nelson Semedo.

Semedo arrived at Wolves in the summer of 2020 for a lot of money and initially, he didn’t really convince.

But he’s gotten better and better at Wolves and last term was Semedo’s best season to date at Wolves.

He was named the Players’ Player of the Season, and Semedo was extremely highly thought of by former manager Gary O’Neil.

He recently became the new club captain following the mutual decision for Mario Lemina to forfeit the armband, suggesting he’s also now a top leader.

Semedo is a brilliant player, and Wolves would really regret losing him.

Rodrigo Gomes

Rodrigo Gomes hasn’t been linked with an exit at Wolves, but it may not be long before speculation about the Portuguese youngster starts.

Because Rodrigo has struggled for regular starts since becoming the club’s first summer signing of 2024.

If Wolves sold Rodrigo the club may well end up really regretting it, because we’ve seen how amazing he did on loan at Estoril as a right wing-back. He’s clearly got bags of talent, but he’s arguably just been adapting to the rigours of the English game.

His case feels a bit similar to Vitinha, who once spent a season on loan at Wolves. The club declined the opportunity to buy the midfielder – and officials who made that call probably regret it now.

Vitinha has gone on to flourish since leaving Wolves, and is now one of the best midfielders in the world.

Tommy Doyle

Tommy Doyle is one of the most unlucky players Wolves have.

He’s a brilliant midfielder, but someone who hasn’t played regularly the whole time he’s been at the club due to the presence of Mario Lemina and Joao Gomes.

And in the summer of 2024, Wolves added Andre to their squad, making minutes for Doyle even harder to come by.

Doyle is a player Wolves would regret selling if the club sold him next year.

Very few players in Wolves’ squad can hold a candle to Doyle when it comes to passing and playmaking, and he’s also already developing into a leader, having worn the captain’s armband a couple of times.

Hopefully, Wolves do not look to try and sell. Given Joao Gomes will likely move on next summer regardless of whether Wolves stay up or not, that should be reason enough to keep hold.
