Three bold Wolves vs Everton predictions as Jhon Arias finally announces himself at Molineux

Wolves are desperate for a win and take on Everton tonight in the Carabao Cup third round at Molineux.

Wanderers crashed to a fifth straight loss in the Premier League on Saturday against Leeds United, and the mood is very poor right now.

Wolves backed Vitor Pereira with a new contract, which some fans questioned due to the timing.

And it’s now on the Portuguese to prove he was worth the show of faith, although he’s got a huge job on his hands with the squad now weaker than it was last season.

It’s Everton tonight and the Toffees have already beaten Wolves this season, winning at Molineux 3-2 in the league just a few weeks ago.

Ahead of the game, here are three bold predictions as Vitor Pereira seeks to stop the rot.

Wolves win the game

Sadly, given the way things currently are, it counts as a bold prediction to suggest Wolves will win a game of football.

But perhaps with Everton being the clear favourites, and this game being something of a free hit for Wolves, the pressure won’t be as intense as it was at the weekend, allowing people to play with more freedom.

It’s expected there will be a low attendance tonight. This potential lack of scrutiny is actually something that may help the players.

In the last round of the competition, Wolves showed good character to come from behind to beat West Ham United.

Perhaps that can serve as fuel tonight, as Pereira looks to outwit David Moyes and get Wolves back on track.

Wolves keep first clean sheet of 2025/26 thanks in part to Sam Johnstone

It is expected that Sam Johnstone will replace Jose Sa in goal tonight, as he did for the West Ham game in the last round.

Wolves are yet to keep a clean sheet this season, but perhaps Johnstone will claim the first shutout of the campaign at Molineux.

Johnstone did well against Newcastle, and will be eager to seize any chance he gets tonight with Jose Sa having played poorly against Leeds.

There should also be changes to the backline, with the likes of Matt Doherty and Santiago Bueno in contention to start. By freshening up the goalkeeper a defence, Pereira might just bring about Wolves’ first clean sheet of the season.

Jhon Arias announces himself as a Wolves player with brace

It hasn’t happened for Jhon Arias since he signed for Wolves from Fluminense.

Hopes are very high for Arias, who assumed the number 10 shirt after Matheus Cunha left. Perhaps that has made people compare him with the Brazilian, and Arias may be feeling the pressure slightly.

It’s still early days for him and it’s clear he is still adapting to English football.

But Pereira has signed him for a reason.

Arias has done well from a defensive standpoint, but tonight might be the night he finally really announces himself as a Wolves player, and we are backing him tonight to score his first two goals in a competitive game for Wanderers.
