Three bold predictions for Wolves in 2022

Wolves enter 2022 looking forward to a first full year under Bruno Lage. But just how much can Lage’s men achieve this year?

It is time to make some bold predictions for the year ahead. The point here is to be ambitious and not conservative.

There is little ‘bold’ about predicting this squad of players to come 13th again. So let’s get to it. Here is a quite overly-positive look ahead to Wolves’ upcoming year…

European qualification

Wolves have flirted with the top six already this season and the long-term aim is to establish the club as European regulars.

Creating more chances and being more clinical in front of goal could push Wolves ahead of that chasing pack and into contention.

Taking Wolves back into Europe at the first time of asking would be some achievement for Lage, when you consider where the club was when he took the job on.

Lage gets the squad he wants

Lage has repeatedly said he wants two quality players battling for selection in every position. Imagine Wolves got the elite central defender and midfielder they need.

And some reliable backup for Raul Jimenez, as well as Adama Traore committing his long-term future to the club. Pedro Neto, Yerson Mosquera and others back fit, too.

It could be mouth-watering and it would also allow Lage to push Wolves closer to his vision for a high-pressing, front foot side creating chances at will while being solid at the back.

FA Cup winners

Wolves are not in relegation danger, so they can afford to throw everything they have at a cup run.

Winning the FA Cup at Wembley would really take the Fosun era to the next level and provide fans with some priceless memories.

Nuno Espirito Santo was one step away from the final in 2019 and going two better would be an incredible achievement for Lage. Why not?
