The writing is on the wall for £11m Wolves player after what Vitor Pereira just said

Wolves manager Vitor Pereira has made some comments that potentially do not bode very well for one player in particular.

Fans can expect a lot of changes to the squad this summer.

Several are out of contract, and some will be poached by other clubs.

It will be a big summer for Wolves, and the pressure will be on the recruitment team to deliver players who can improve the squad.

It has been a very poor season for Wolves, and fans will expect much more in 2025/26 – presuming Wolves do actually retain their Premier League status.

But one player who likely isn’t going to be around at Molineux next term is Carlos Forbs, especially given what Vitor Pereira has now said.

Pereira has hinted at one Wolves transfer plan this summer – and that is to sign a player who is good in one-vs-one situations, and someone who can create in the final third.

He said via Express and Star: “I think it’s about individual skills, maybe next season we need to think about players one against one.

“Players that can create something in one against one. I think we have one or two with this profile.”

Pereira comments are blow for Carlos Forbs amid struggle for minutes

Pereira publicly calling for a new attacking threat who is good in one-vs-one situation must be somewhat hard for Carlos Forbs to hear.

The youngster signed for Wolves on loan from Ajax last summer, and fans had high hopes, for a player who was a huge threat for Manchester City’s academy teams.

He did had a season at Ajax, so the hope was that he’d be able to make a decent impact.

But that has not been the case, with Forbs one of the least-used players this season.

The managerial has not helped Forbs’ situation

Essentially, what Pereira is after is exactly what Forbs is about. His game revolves around being direct and taking players on, one against one, as Wolves told fans in their scouting report of Forbs when he first signed.

But Pereira doesn’t seem to see it that way, and the manager not naming Forbs in his comments about one-vs-one threats is quite telling.

Pereira recently challenged Forbs to improve defensively so that may be the main reason for his lack of minutes.

But certainly, these comments do strongly suggest the writing is on the wall now for the 20-year-old.
