Despite the horrendous position Wolves currently find themselves in, there were still a few players who had a decent year all in all.
The 2025/26 has been truly awful, and fans simply cannot wait to see the back of it.
But towards the start of the year Wolves were actually in a pretty decent position, with Vitor Pereira completely changing the picture.
He had built up a wonderful relationship with the fans, and the club genuinely looked to have turned a corner.
That was until the summer of 2025 happened, and far too many key players were sold.
2025 really has been a game of two halves, but Molineux News looks at three players who can be considered the best performers in Old Gold this calendar year.
Joao Gomes
Joao Gomes has been nowhere near the level we know he can play at in 2025/26, but he still makes it onto this list having been a strong performer in the second half of last season.
Gomes played a key role in Wolves’ upturn in 2024/25 alongside Andre in Wolves midfield and as we’ve seen since the moment he arrived, he gave his absolute all.

And Gomes’ quality was underlined by the fact that he won Supporters’ Player of the Season, ahead of Matheus Cunha.
Wolves have had an awful 2025/26, but Gomes has still played his heart out, which just cannot be said for most other players in that squad.
It’s unclear how much longer he will be at the club. But if he is to leave in January then he could not really be blamed, and he should genuinely go with the well wishes of the fans.
Jean Ricner-Bellegarde
Here’s what Wolves said about Bellegarde when he first came to Wolves
How integral is JRB now for Wanderers?
Jean-Ricner Bellegarde enjoyed a decent 2025 for Wolves all in all.
The Haiti international didn’t really impress in his first season at Wolves, but started to really find his feet last term – especially in the second half of the campaign.
Pereira deployed him in a central role a few times and he really shone – the 2-0 win over Aston Villa when he scored was a real highlight for Bellegarde.
Then, he also impressed playing as a left number 10 while Matheus Cunha was serving a suspension.
Like every Wolves player, Bellegarde’s form dipped in 2025/26. However, he has been one of the better players.

Wolves have had a major creativity issue, but Bellegarde has often been the only player to try and take a risk and make something happen in and around the final third.
He won two Player of the Month awards in 2025, in March and September, and overall Bellegarde can hold his head higher than most.
Matt Doherty
Matt Doherty more than deserves a place on this list.
2025 was the year we saw a big change with the Republic of Ireland international, who started playing on the right of a back three under Pereira.
After taking some weeks to adapt, he started to put in some great performances and really found consistency.

Doherty has stated he really enjoys that role, and without a doubt it gave him a new lease of life.
This season, Doc has again played fairly regularly, mostly playing in that same role but also filling in as a right wing-back at times.
Like with others, fans know he can play much better.
But at the very least, like with Gomes, he gives absolutely everything and he is also one of very few leaders in that squad and is someone who has always tried to drive up standards.
