The European star who could be available for a cut-price transfer fee – he would save Wolves’ season

Wolves could consider signing one Champions League star following the latest transfer update.

Gary O’Neil has a lot to fix at Molineux in January, with Wolves needing to turn their relegation form around once and for all.

After winning consecutive Premier League games, Wolves lost 4-2 to Bournemouth, an afternoon in the West Midlands that saw O’Neil humiliated by his former club.

Sitting in the bottom three as the January transfer window approaches, Matt Hobbs and O’Neil understand what needs to be done to turn 2024/25 fortune around.

AC Milan could sell Fikayo Tomori at cut price

Fortunately, Wolves will look to sign a centre-back in January, which is a huge relief after the Old Gold failed to deliver a defender in the summer.

Hobbs’ summer failures left O’Neil with very few central defenders, not eased by an influx of injuries in that position.

Several centre-back names have been suggested, with it even possible that former target Nico Elvedi makes it back onto Wolves’ radar.

While work will be underway for the Midlands side to get themselves in order, a new name could tempt Hobbs to explore in Italy this winter, as per the latest update.

Italian outlet Calcio Mercato have shared AC Milan’s transfer stance regarding former Chelsea centre-back Fikayo Tomori.

It’s said that a 2025 exit for the Englishman is ‘not that impossible’ and that Milan’s summer demand of €30m for the star could be lowered.

A price lower than £25m could make Tomori an absolute steal for Wolves this winter, being a player with superb experience and, is classed as a homegrown player.

Wolves could join Premier League interest in Tomori

Moving for the 26-year-old England international would be bold from the Old Gold, particularly considering the interest already reported in Tomori.

Calcio Mercato claim that Juventus, West Ham United, Aston Villa and Newcastle United admire the Chelsea academy graduate, who has 17 Premier League appearances.

Given how badly Wolves need a new centre-back, capturing Tomori could prove to be a season-saving move from Hobbs, who has to right his wrongs from the summer in style.

The Englishman is most statistically comparable to Arsenal monster Gabriel Magalhaes, as per FBref, suggesting that he’s very much at the level required to make a significant difference at Molineux.

Being a player who has had a taste of the top level in Europe, striking a deal for the centre-back at this moment could be a challenge but, it would be a statement move that could just help Wolves survive.
