If any film director wanted to make a movie about a football club, then Wolves in 2024/25 would certainly make for an excellent choice.
Fans have watched on astonished this term at some of the things that have gone on, with high levels of drama happening on almost a weekly basis.
We’ve had chairman Jeff Shi answering back to disgruntled fans over email, Mario Lemina having the captaincy removed and him then later refusing to play.
We’ve had Gary O’Neil being sacked, Matheus Cunha scrapping with an Ipswich Town staff member and fighting Milos Kerkez, Noni Madueke insulting Wolverhampton, conceding a hat-trick of penalties to Bournemouth and Craig Dawson being banished from training. And there have been plenty more dramatic incidents.
But there’s also been some good things.
Amid acting stars attending Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre for last night’s Oscars ceremony, it’s been pretty clear that Wolves’ Best Actor this season is Matheus Cunha, without whom the club would be in serious trouble.
But how about Best Supporting Actor? Molineux News makes the case for Andre.
Andre is Wolves’ ‘Best Supporting Actor’

Andre signed for Wolves from Fluminense for fee in the region of £21 million.
There was some surprise at Wolves managing to snap up the Brazilian, given the level of interest in him.
It was seen as a real coup, but Andre did actually struggle to impose himself at Molineux in the early weeks.
Under Gary O’Neil, he did not start every game, and O’Neil said Andre struggled with the ‘detail’ of the game against Manchester City back in October. He had hooked the star at half-time.
But Andre would start to find his feet towards the end of O’Neil’s reign – and then really start to shine under Vitor Pereira.
The Portuguese has taken a real shine to Andre, starting him in all but one of the Premier League games he has overseen so far. The only game he has missed was against Nottingham Forest, against whom he was granted special leave for.
Andre has now come into his own for Wolves and is starting to dominate games in the midfield. Sometimes, Andre resembles Joao Moutinho, with how he displays such class on the ball, but also tenacity when needed.
Cunha is grabbing the headlines and will continue to do so at Wolves. But Andre is providing fantastic support for this team and going about his business very efficiently in the engine room.
More to come from Andre at Wolves
Pereira recently claimed there was more to come from Andre, saying after the Premier League win over Bournemouth: “Andre is the player that balances the space in between the lines, playing as a No 6. He did very well. I know Andre very well. I played against him in Brazil a lot of times against Fluminense.
“He has more to give than what I saw today. He was very good, but he is a player who is confident to switch the play and to find the spaces in the middle, on the other side and on the back of the pressure.”
If Wolves stay up this season, keeping Andre will be crucial.
He has now shown what he’s all about and the Brazilian could genuinely help Wolves to become a much better side.
Cunha is expected to leave this summer and that would obviously be a big blow.
But very possibly, that could then allow Andre to take over his mantle as Wolves’ new ‘Best Actor’.
