One of Wolves’ biggest transfer priorities this summer is signing a new right wing-back, with the Old Gold scouring the market for a top talent.
As it stands, Wolves are without captain Nelson Semedo, who saw his contract expire on June 30 after five years at Molineux.
Wolves placed a four-year contract on Semedo’s table in June, but despite offering the 31-year-old a lucrative deal, they are still no closer to knowing where his future lies.
Currently, Vitor Pereira is planning for life without the Portuguese international, as several names have been linked, including former Southampton star Kyle Walker-Peters and Jeremy Toljan.
However, there is one player who has emerged as the frontrunner to replace Semedo, which could cause issues for a current star.

Rodrigo Gomes will be worried if Wolves sign Marc Pubill
Almeria right-back Marc Pubill has emerged on Wolves’ radar and talks are progressing between the two clubs over a potential £13 million transfer.
Fabrizio Romano relayed such information on Monday by stating that Wolves are pushing to sign Pubill ahead of some Italian clubs, including AC Milan.
Pubill was lauded as one of the ‘most promising’ talents in the world in 2023, and since then, he’s continued his progression at Almeria, who earned promotion to La Liga in 2024/25.
The 22-year-old, who featured for Spain at the under-21 Euros, amassed four assists in 36 league appearances for his club last term.
The 6ft 3inch monster would offer significant height and strength to Pereira’s right flank, which could leave Rodrigo Gomes worried about his game time.

Gomes confessed he found the Premier League tough last term, although he impressed in some matches, he was used sporadically by the Wolves manager, normally as an option from the bench.
Liam Keen thinks Gomes must improve his numbers in the final third to truly become a regular starter, and as it stands, Wolves looking for a new wing-back suggests he will remain as a back-up option.
Gomes has a chance to impress in pre-season
While Semedo trains alone in Portugal amid speculation over his long-term future, Gomes must use pre-season as an opportunity to impress his manager.
Pereira does rate Gomes highly, given his pace, aggression and excellent dribbling skills but the 22-year-old often let himself down with the defensive side of his game.
Gomes was exposed in a rare start against Crystal Palace, as he struggled to live with their quality out wide.
As Pubill is someone known for his solid defensive attributes, averaging 3.5 balls recovered and 1.3 tackles per game in La Liga 2, the Portuguese under-21 star would have his work cut out to start ahead of him.
