Rob Edwards judgements must be held off until Wolves’ January business is completed, here’s why

The Rob Edwards fan club has seen some deserters in recent weeks, and after seven losses in seven games, that is an expected outcome.

Wolves’ results have not improved since the former Wales international took over, but the level of criticism has been somewhat unfair.

It is not like Rob Edwards has come to Disneyland, where everything is all fine, rosy, and joyous; he has taken the job amid a major mess created by Fosun.

The disruption at the higher levels of the club is compounded and made clear by the fact that Jeff Shi has left Wolves mid-season, with Nathan Shi taking over on an interim basis.

That is after fans were told that Wolves’ summer business was ‘good’ by the former club chairman.

It is absolutely fine to have criticisms and gripes with Rob Edwards, but any major hard stance about him must be held off until at least what happens following the January window.

How long do you think Rob Edwards will remain in charge at Molineux?

Jeff Shi was confident it would be quite a while, but with him gone, is Edwards in more danger?

The job handed to Rob Edwards is extremely difficult. He was tasked with surviving with a squad many view as not being Premier League quality.

This team is on an 11-game losing streak, the third longest in Premier League history.

After just one month, and no transfer window so far, it is unfair to suddenly expect him to have pulled off a miracle.

Yes, Wolves have not been great, but the head coach deserves a little more time to prove himself. There have been clear improvements within the squad, and Lee Naylor has begun noticing the positive changes.

If the head coach can be given some added quality, then who knows how many points the Old Gold can accumulate by the end of the season?

Fans are free to express concerns about how he sets up, the players he selects, and how they view the style of play he has brought, but he should be given some leniency at least until the issues that preceded him have dissipated.

After the January window is the true time to assess Rob Edwards at Wolves

Once the January window comes and goes, and depending on the level of business done at Wolves, then can be the time to start discussing Rob Edwards.

However, until then, it might be best to hold off on any strong stance about his future.

If the Old Gold can get some better players signed, and players that Edwards wants, then there can be fewer excuses to give him.

Any suggestions that Wolves should already be looking to replace him seem premature, as so far, there have been signs he can be the man for the club long-term.

At this point, there are few managers who could get a tune out of the current crop of players, and most would be unattainable.
