Marshall Munetsi has had a tough month at Wolves.
The Old Gold midfielder had been looking forward to going to AFCON, but a calf injury and administrative errors meant he was not selected by Zimbabwe.
Recently, Munetsi had also been linked with a move back to France.
For Wolves, he has also been a player who divides opinion. Many fans point out his hard work and the defensive qualities he offers but also look to his lack of technical ability.
And before his injury, Rob Edwards had seemed to drop him down the pecking order, with the player starting just one of three games while available.
However, inside the squad, the view of Munetsi is far different, and Tawanda Chirewa has offered an insight into the player that could offer Edwards some perspective.

Tawanda Chirewa praises Marshall Munetsi’s work rate

Tawanda Chirewa has heaped praise onto Marshall Munetsi as he jets off to participate in the African Cup of Nations.
Munetsi has been left out of the AFCON squad due to injury, although the Wolves midfielder has hinted at other reasons for his exclusion.
Chirewa, who is also Zimbabwean, has leaned on the 29-year-old for advice, and he has shared the ways in which he has helped him.
And Rob Edwards may have to take notice of what he said.
Chirewa said (via Wolves), “The main thing I see from him is the positivity and the work rate, which I feel is something he has put onto me: to work hard every day and never let things outside of football, or how football’s going, affect your daily work, because the only way you can change your situation is by working hard.”
“He’s definitely helped me with that.”
Is Marshall Munetsi’s exclusion from AFCON good news for Wolves following Jean-Ricner Bellegarde’s injury?
Wolves look to be going down, but fans will simply want their players to give their all, and that is one thing that can never be questioned about Munetsi.
The former Stade Reims player has rarely got to play his natural position and has often been played further up the pitch.
And when he comes back from injury, it might be time for Rob Edwards to make a decision in that regard.

Marshall Munetsi needs to play deeper for Wolves
Marshall Munetsi’s passing leaves a lot to be desired, but if played as a deeper midfielder, his ball-winning, work rate, and physicality could help Wolves.
Recently, we have seen Rob Edwards use a midfield three against Arsenal, and the Zimbabwean could be an excellent fit for the position that Ladislav Krejci played.
With Krejci slotting back into defence and Munetsi deployed as a defensive midfielder, it could give the Old Gold more stability.
Time will tell with Munetsi, and if reports of interest abroad are to be believed, there is a chance he might not even be a Wolves player past January.
