Rob Edwards has one very healthy situation developing at Wolves all of a sudden

Wolves fans hope that a corner has been turned after the club recorded their first win in the Premier League over West Ham United, and Rob Edwards has one positive situation emerging.

The Old Gold finally ended their winless run in the top-flight, beating the Irons 3-0 at Molineux.

It was an emphatic performance by Wanderers, who were clinical when they needed to be, and strong at the back.

Does Wolves’ 3-0 win over West Ham increase your optimism of survival? 🤔

There was a first clean sheet of the season, and Wolves actually managed to take the chances when they came, which just hasn’t been a theme this season.

The hope now is that Wolves can build on the result, and make a fist of staying up.

At the moment, a number of players are playing well with Rob Edwards likely having selection headaches over a number of positions.

But perhaps the biggest headache he’ll have right now, is over the left wing-back position.

Hugo Bueno vs David Moller Wolfe is a healthy battle at Wolves

On Saturday against West Ham, Hugo Bueno was one of Wolves’ best players.

The Spaniard was a great outlet and constantly looked to get the ball into the box for Tolu Arokodare. As per Sofascore, his eight crosses were easily the most by any Wolves player.

He also helped himself to an assist for Mane, finding the youngster in space. Mane then did the rest, unleashing a vicious strike from the edge of the box.

It was Bueno’s third start in a row and he has taken his opportunity with both hands.

And it’s interesting because David Moller Wolfe had actually also been playing fairly well beforehand.

The Norway international started Edwards’ first six games and had arguably been one of the strongest performers. Arguably, Moller Wolfe had actually even been the biggest winner of Edwards’ appointment.

But, in a decision that was slightly harsh on Moller Wolfe, Edwards saw fit to bring Bueno back in a few weeks ago, and he responded well.

So currently, there is an argument to say that the battle for the left wing-back spot is the most fierce within the squad – and that can only be a positive for Wolves.

Edwards needs strong competition everywhere

At this point in the season, Wolves need as many strong internal battles as possible in order to drive up standards.

Bueno vs Moller Wolfe is the one that stands out as the closest right now, but there are also some others that are also looking quite healthy.

Jose Sa’s return to the side has been successful, and it appears his battle with Sam Johnstone is serving him well right now.

Tolu Arokodare has also really stepped up recently, and hopefully this will eventually lead to an improvement in Jorgen Strand Larsen, who’s looked a bit better coming on in games lately.

Ideally, Edwards needs as many of these battles going on as possible, because it is bound to lead to improved performances and results.
