Wolverhampton Wanderers’ transfer plans might be about to become complicated.
There have been a string of reports over the last couple of weeks about Rafa Mir and his immediate future.
The Spaniard only has a year left on his contract at Molineux.
He had a brilliant, goal-filled season in 2020/21 on loan at Huesca, which has caused his value to increase significantly.
Supposedly, Atletico Madrid are keen on the player, with Fabrizio Romano reporting he had agreed personal terms.
AS then claimed a transfer agreement had been reached.
But now, Sky Sport Italia (via Football Italia) have claimed the Spanish champions have made a bid of at least €50 million/£42 million for Dusan Vlahovic.
His club Fiorentina want at least €70 million/£60 million.
It’s stated Atletico’s bid is ‘only a way of starting the negotiation’, so potentially they could return with a higher bid.
Mir sale could be scuppered if true
Hopefully this news about Atletico bidding for Vlahovic is wide of the mark.
They already have Luis Suarez, Angel Correa, Joao Felix, Marcos Llorente and Ivan Saponjic in their ranks, so it would be a surprise for them to want two strikers.
If reports are to be believed about Wolves needing to sell to buy, then Mir is the man that needs offloading, as someone with relatively high value.
That is, of course, if there is little chance of him staying at Molineux – which does to be the case.
