One Wolves star just sent a clear message to Gary O’Neil in Forest defeat – he embarrassed him

Former Wolves manager Gary O’Neil was left red-faced by one player he signed at Molineux.

The Old Gold failed to maintain their unbeaten record under Vitor Pereira, as Wolves lost 3-0 to Nottingham Forest.

Morgan Gibbs-White inevitably scored alongside Chris Wood before Taiwo Awoniyi put the final nail in Wolves’ coffin.

It was a difficult night for the squad however, for some, it was a memorable occasion.

Pedro Lima impressed on Premier League debut vs Nottingham Forest

While Wolves fans weren’t impressed with Hwang Hee-chan, one of the Korean’s teammates can hold their head high.

Pedro Lima made his Premier League debut, replacing the injured Nelson Semedo at right-wing back, where he operated freely, being a menace when getting forward.

For an 18-year-old whose experience has predominantly been in the second-tier of Brazilian football, Lima made the Premier League look like home in his 59 minutes on the pitch.

The defender’s numbers only reinforce just how impressive he was in the wide areas against Forest, sending a message to Pereira to inform the Wolves manager that he’s ready to compete.

Lima hits back at Gary O’Neil comments with Forest display

Lima being ready to play at senior level is a significant boost for the Old Gold, who are once again struggling with a limited squad.

The 18-year-old arrived sensationally in the summer, bypassing Chelsea to instead join Wolves, where he was instantly adored.

Despite putting on an impressive pre-season, former manager Gary O’Neil had a different plan for the Brazilian, seeing him pick up limited minutes at senior level.

O’Neil even suggested that Lima wouldn’t play this season, claiming that the youngster ‘wasn’t signed to help’ the first team in 2024/25.

The Englishman’s comments puzzled fans at the time, as Lima was quite obviously a capable talent after his impressive EFL Cup display against Burnley.

Pereira handed the teenager a chance that O’Neil never gave him in the Premier League and lo and behold, he made it clear that he’s here for a reason.

Wherever O’Neil was watching from, the former manager would have been left red-faced watching Lima cause a constant threat down the right.
