Next international break is especially vital for one Wolves player amid disastrous 2025/26 so far

Wolves take on Brighton at the weekend, and then itโ€™s the next international break โ€“ and it will be a very important one for one Molineux star in particular.

Wolves fans are desperately hoping to watch their side pick up three points at Molineux against the Seagulls.

Wanderers came so close to doing that last weekend against Tottenham Hotspur, but for a last-gasp equaliser from Joao Palhinha.

Wolves have shown signs of improvement over the last couple of games.

And that has mainly been down to Vitor Pereira changing the system, and playing with a back four.

Santiago Bueno and Ladislav Krejci have both looked solid, and that has meant less opportunity for Emmanuel Agbadou, whose poor start to the season makes this next international break particularly important.

The decline of Agbadou this season has been extremely alarming.

Last term, he was totally formidable at the back for Wolves following his ยฃ16 million transfer from Reims, and he made a massive impact and helped the club get to safety with relative ease in the end.

Agbadou looked like a Champions League-level defender at times, and fans were looking forward to seeing him kick on.

But the total opposite of that has happened.

Agbadou has had a nightmare start to 2025/26, and has made mistakes constantly since the start of the campaign. So far, Agbadouโ€™s made the most errors of any player leading to goals in the Premier League.

Heโ€™s started the last two games on the bench, but he did come on at half-time against Spurs as Pereira changed the system.

It would be a big shock if he started against Brighton this weekend.

And if Bueno and Krejci both play well again, then it will cement them both ahead of Agbadou in the pecking order.

With Agbadou, it has looked like he has been totally devoid of confidence.

That said, the upcoming international break could be just what the doctor ordered for Agbadou.

Ivory Coast have already qualified for the 2026 World Cup and so, their two games against Seychelles and Kenya are opportunities for Agbadou to play his way back into some form.

The pressure is off, and it is a chance for him to get some confidence back, ahead of returning to Wolves.

Agbadou must respond after shocking start to 2025/26

A lot of Wolves fans have barely been able to believe the drop-off in Agbadouโ€™s level compared to last season.

We obviously donโ€™t know if there are any external factors at play, but Wolves need their man to buck his ideas up as soon as possible.

He was a revelation last season and Wolves need that player back, because this campaign is going to be very tough.

One can only hope that, now heโ€™s been dropped to the bench for a couple of games, there will be a new fire in his belly to turn things around.

If Agbadou does not have any involvement against Brighton โ€“ and he ought not to โ€“ then he must use the international break to reset and come back raring to go.
