Wolves and Morgan Gibbs-White haven’t always seen eye-to-eye since his departure from Molineux.
Rob Edwards is tasked with securing Wolves’ first three points of the season against Nottingham Forest after a very respectable display against Aston Villa.
It was definitely a step in the right direction at Villa Park, which Edwards even highlighted himself after the game. The defence looked a lot more structured, and in attack, chances came naturally.
However, it’s a new challenge midweek against Sean Dyche and Nottingham Forest, who head into this one off the back of a 2-0 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion.
Nottingham Forest have almost become unofficial rivals in a way for Wolves, and it comes down to two different things. The departure of Morgan Gibbs-White and their embarrassing ‘playtime’ tweet.
Throwback to when Wolves left Nottingham Forest red-faced on social media 🤣
Morgan Gibbs-White’s reasoning behind leaving Wolves
Morgan Gibbs-White started out at Wolves as a youngster and worked his way up to a first-team opportunity in 2017, before making 88 appearances for the club.
However, it wasn’t all sunshine and roses, as the midfielder appeared to put one of the reasons behind his departure down Wolves failing to give him confidence.
What do you make of Morgan Gibbs-White’s reason for leaving Wolves?🤔
Whilst it does seem that his ego appeared to get in the way at Wolves, this can be seen as a warning to Wolves and any young players they have coming through.
Mateus Mane needs to be handled properly
Mateus Mane is the hottest on the block in terms of prospects at Wolves right now.
His small cameos against Chelsea and Aston Villa in the Premier League this season are just reward for all his hard work for the Wolves under-21s, where he has scored and assisted eight in total this season.

However, one thing that needs to be ensured with the youngster is that he continues to be exposed to regular game time and is rewarded for his performances.
One thing Vitor Pereira was criticised for was his inability to reward the right players for their performances. The perfect example was David Moller-Wolfe’s two goals against Chelsea, which resulted in zero minutes the following game.
Mane is happy and excited for the future at Wolves, but all it takes is for a slight doubt to creep into his mind, and clubs will be sniffing around for a player of his potential and quality.
