Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Willian Jose is still looking for his first goal for the club.

The Brazilian, on loan until the end of the season from Real Sociedad, has now made 12 appearances for the club since his arrival.

He’s shown some decent link-up play here and there, but has unfortunately lacked that cutting edge.

He thought he had broken his duck against Fulham when he nodded home Daniel Podence’s cross.

But VAR’s intervation ruled it out, with replays showing he was a hair offside, somehow.

Aside from that, Jose didn’t do a great deal against the Cottagers.

It’s starting to feel like moving for Jose was a bit of a mistake.

His struggles are happening at a time where two players who were linked with Wolves are absolutely flourishing.

Montpellier players Gaeten Laborde and Andy Delort have both now reached 20 goal contributions for the season (via Transfermarkt) after their game with Marseille this weekend.

Le Buteur claimed in January that Wolves tabled a serious offer for Delort, and Eurosport.fr reported interest in Laborde.

Only the top four teams in the division have scored more goals than their 52, and Laborde and Delort have been key for the eighth-placed side.

A move for Jose made sense for Wolves at the time, but there’s no doubt he has underwhelmed given the reputation he arrived with.

Laborde and Delort are certainly showing the South American up right now.
