Wolves are expected to be one of the busier Premier League teams on deadline day of the winter transfer window, and looking at the league table it’s easy to see why.
Vitor Pereira’s side currently sit precariously close to the relegation zone in 17th-place, just two points clear of Leicester City in 18th thanks to a shock 2-0 win over Aston Villa at the end of January.
With their place in the Premier League on the line, manager Pereira has demanded signings late in the window to help stave off the threat of relegation.
There’s been plenty of players linked with a move to Molineux in recent days as a result. The likes of Marshall Munetsi, Rafa Silva and Burnley captain Josh Brownhill have all been touted with late transfers to Wolves.
The latter, Brownhill, was previously a target for Wolves during both Bruno Lage and Gary O’Neil’s tenures in charge, and now it looks like he could finally make a move to Molineux with Pereira at the helm.
Here’s everything you need to know about the English midfielder.

Josh Brownhill’s age and height
Brownhill turned 29 on 19th December, and stands at five foot 11 inches (1.80m).

What position does Josh Brownhill play?
Brownhill has played the large majority of his football as a central midfielder, but has transitioned into more of attacking midfield role at Burnley in recent times.
As a result of this move a bit further up the field, Brownhill has been able to hit a career-high season season goal tally already half-way through the 2024/25 campaign, netting nine goals in 28 Championship appearances.
The 29-year-old’s record in the Premier League isn’t as impressive however. In 111 top-flight games, Brownhill has managed just six goals.

The midfielder started off his career as a schoolboy player at Manchester United, before joining Preston North End’s youth set-up in 2012.
After working his way up to the first-team, and impressing during a loan spell at Barnsley, Brownhill earned a move to Bristol City in 2016. His standout performances at Ashton Gate eventually earned him a January move to then-Premier League outfit Burnley in 2019, where he has been ever since.
What Vincent Kompany said about Josh Brownhill
Current Bayern Munich boss was a noted fan of Brownhill during his tenure in charge at Turf Moor, promoting the midfielder to vice-captain of the club as a result.
Speaking during their Championship title-winning campaign of 2022/23, Kompany discussed what made Brownhill such an important player, hailing his ‘leadership’ skills:
“He’s brought that work-rate into the team this season,” said Kompany. “You know that he’s a player who, if he gets into the right areas, has got the skills to finish, the skills to play a final ball, but he’s given us so much more than that in terms of leadership and setting an example for the other lads.”
Josh Brownhill to Wolves transfer
According to talkSPORT’s chief football correspondent Alex Crook, Wolves are among a number of clubs from England, Italy, France and Turkey who are all considering a late bid to sign Brownhill.
While the continental teams were not named in the report, both Everton and Brentford were as potential rivals for Wolves in the race to sign the talented midfielder.
