On Saturday, Wolves will no doubt have to be at their very best defensively – and it’s a big day for Max Kilman with regards to his England prospects.
The 24-year-old has been in imperious form this season.
DIVOCK ORIGI DOES NOT MAKE SENSE.
After struggling to hold down a place in the starting XI last term under Nuno Espirito Santo, Kilman has been a regular pick under Bruno Lage.
He started as a result of Willy Boly’s pre-season injury, and has been so good that the Ivory Coast international – now injured again – hasn’t had a look in.
Kilman was stellar against Liverpool last weekend and really didn’t deserve to be on the losing side.
He’ll be looking to upset the odds on Saturday against Manchester City, and another strong showing will perhaps do wonders for his England prospects.
There is no international football now until March, so there will be lots of chances for Kilman to stake his claim.
It’s games like Saturday though, against big opposition, that tend to be the most impactful. They have the potential to create lasting impressions.
City vs Wolves is the early kick-off on Saturday, which is a prime slot.
There will be big focus on the match, and perhaps Southgate might even be in attendance. City do have a number of England internationals, plus Conor Coady will be playing for Wolves.
Max Kilman can boost England prospects with solid Manchester City showing
Keeping Manchester City at bay is no easy task.
If Kilman can put in another great performance then there is a great chance he could make the next England squad.
Obviously, he’d have to maintain his form through until then.
But he has looked the real deal this season and is playing with refreshing confidence at the moment. There’s no reason why he can’t do that.
