Wolves face Watford in their next Premier League game on Thursday night.
Wanderers are looking to get back on track after a tough past few weeks.
Bruno Lage’s side are currently on a three-game losing streak, with Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace a real concern.
It was one of the worst displays of the season, and the manager made his feelings crystal clear in his post-match press conference.
Surely, changes to the starting XI will be in the offing on Thursday night.
And someone who needs to be in that next starting XI is Rayan Ait-Nouri.
The Frenchman was left on the bench against Palace, and it was later revealed by Lage that the youngster missed a couple of training sessions with a virus.
The fact he was named as a substitute against Palace though may suggest he’ll be good to go against Watford.
And he should definitely start, because Wolves don’t have any other outlets at the moment.
Nelson Semedo’s hamstring injury is a huge blow, and Wolves will really miss him and his marauding runs.
The Portugal international being unavailable has surely got to mean that Ait-Nouri plays as often as he can, as the next best attacking wing-back in the squad.
The fact he has five assists so far this season is evidence of that.
Bruno Lage has to start Ait-Nouri against Watford
Marcal wasn’t the worst Wolves player on Saturday. Not by a long shot.
But at the same time, he simply cannot be playing ahead of Ait-Nouri right now with Wolves struggling to create.
Ironically, Marcal probably had his best game this season in the reverse fixture against Watford back in September.
He assisted both goals in the 2-0 win that day, and there may be temptation for Lage to play him again.
But Ait-Nouri had been in brilliant form before missing the last two matches. And fans have really taken to the Frenchman’s direct style.
Him not starting on Thursday is something that could really get some supporters’ backs up.
