Ki-Jana Hoever may have chance to feature again for Wolves after Semedo injury

Ki-Jana Hoever could well soon feature again for Wolves, after Nelson Semedo went off with an injury in the shocking 3-0 defeat to Brighton.

It was Wanderers’ worst display all season, at a time when the club needed three points to keep the dream of European football for next season alive.

It was a truly shocking display, and there were no good performances in old gold to speak of.

Not only did Wolves play terribly, but they also lost Nelson Semedo injury.

The star was featuring for only the second time after returning from the hamstring injury he picked up against Arsenal in February.

The 28-year-old went down on 53 minutes, and it quickly became apparent that it was another hamstring issue.

He was replaced by Jonny Castro Otto, just as he was against Arsenal.

And now we wait for news on the Portugal international. There should be an update from the club in the coming days, but few are expecting good news.

It is very possible Semedo’s season could be done since there are now only four games left.

One wonders if that means we might now see Ki-Jana Hoever feature for the first-team again.

The Dutchman has not played for the first-team since going off injured against Crystal Palace back in early March.

After that game, Lage slammed Hoever for not preparing adequately for the game.

After recovering from that hamstring injury, Hoever featured for the U23s against Newcastle United recently, and has been waiting to see if a first-team chance will come his way.

He was named on the bench against Burnley, but missed out on the matchday squad against Brighton.

Given Wolves have Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool still left to play, it’s likely Jonny will be Lage’s go-to at right wing-back.

But £13.5 million man Hoever did play against Chelsea in the reverse fixture back in December and did really well.

Wolves also play relegated Norwich City this month, so there could be an opportunity for him there.

Lage has hinted he could turn to the 20-year-old. He will surely be champing at the bit after Lage comments’ post-Palace.

It could be that Jonny moves over to the left to accommodate the former Liverpool man.

You’d think he’d really need to make a big impression though if he is to remain a part of the first-team squad for next season.
