Wolves fans are hoping the club will soon provide news on the Joao Moutinho situation.

The veteran midfielder has been in talks with the club since the end of the 2021/22 season about a new contract.

He wants to extend his stay at Molineux. And Wolves want to keep hold of him.

It was reported last month that the sticking point had been Moutinho wanting to pen a two-year deal. Wolves only wanted to offer him one.

Things have gone all quiet in the last couple of weeks, and some supporters have been a little worried.

Moutinho’s current deal with Wolves expires tomorrow, meaning he will officially become a free agent.

Potentially, that could mean that an announcement will be coming from the club imminently.

Of course, it is possible that the club could re-sign him at a later date. But you would perhaps just think that the club would give supporters peace of mind by announcing he has extended before he becomes a free agent.

Hopefully Wolves soon announce Joao Moutinho has signed a new contract

Wolves fans will take any good news they can get right now. And an announcement that Moutinho has signed a new contract would indeed be a positive thing.

He still has a part to play for Wanderers despite his advancing years.

It’s possible he could suffer a decline in the coming season, but he is a leader and a top professional. What he brings to the dressing room is invaluable.

Hopefully, Wolves will imminently announce that he has signed a new deal, rather than deliver a crushing blow that an agreement was not reached and that he is moving on.
