Wolves are feeling the effects of a number of issues made in the summer transfer window, despite spending over £100 million.
Many Wolves supporters have come to the realisation that the problem currently lies with the quality of players at the club.
Rob Edwards’ impact has already been evident at Wolves. Taking them to fifth for sprints in the Premier League, as well as the intensity improving at Molineux.
Wolves have conceded just four goals in their last three games, which is good by the standards that were previously set under Vitor Pereira.
But the one underlying issue is finding the back of the net. The Old Gold managed to score zero goals in November, and are yet to score under Edwards.
Jorgen Strand Larsen was the player many pinned their hopes on after Matheus Cunha’s departure, but he has just one Premier League goal to his name this season.
Alan Shearer claims Wolves should have sold Jorgen Strand Larsen
Newcastle United went into meltdown during the summer transfer window amid Liverpool’s endless pursuit of Alexander Isak.
This led them down the path of searching for replacements, which is where they stumbled upon Jorgen Strand Larsen, fresh off a 14-goal season.
A £50 million bid was turned down by Wolves. At the time, this seemed like the best decision, with high hopes for the upcoming campaign and so little time left to find a replacement.
However, Alan Shearer believes Wolves’ made a mistake keeping Strand Larsen.
Should Wolves have sold Jorgen Strand Larsen? Alan Shearer certainly thinks so 😬
Alan Shearer gets it bang on with Strand Larsen
Strand Larsen just doesn’t look like the same player he was last season. Whether that’s a confidence thing or the new players around him, it’s impossible to figure out.
He quite often snatches at chances in front of goal and struggles to really hold up the ball and bring others into play this season. Things that he did with ease last season.
What has happened to Jorgen Strand Larsen at Wolves?📉
His performance against Nottingham Forest was one of his worst yet in the Gold shirt. Morato and Nikola Milenkovic bullied Strand Larsen off the ball and had him feeding off scraps.
Whilst the decision to sell him at the time in the summer transfer window would have been a bad one, in hindsight now it looks like Wolves would be looking at half the fee Newcastle offered.
It is still early days under Rob Edwards, so there is every chance he can regain some confidence and return to his old ways at Wolves.
