Wolves have announced Vitor Pereira as their new manager to succeed Gary O’Neil.
O’Neil was finally sacked by Wolves on Sunday, and Vitor Pereira was instantly eyed as the Englishman’s replacement.
Pereira has now been unveiled as Wolves new manager, penning an 18-month contract at Molineux after leaving Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab.
It’s Pereira’s dream to manage in the Premier League, and the fans are excited about his appointment despite the huge challenge that awaits him.
The Old Gold are locked inside the relegation zone by five points and need a massive January transfer window to save their season.
Luckily, Pereira’s transfer plans at Wolves have already been drawn up, with the Portuguese ready to get his business done early.
Wolves want to sign a British centre-back in January
Wolves’ biggest problem this term has been their defence. Toti Gomes, Craig Dawson and Santi Bueno all lack pace and mobility.
As a result, the Wanderers have been exposed on several occasions, conceding 40 goals in 16 matches and a league-high number of set-pieces (16).
Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
19 | 16 | 2 | 3 | 11 | 24 | 40 | -16 | 9 |
The transfer window will therefore be focused on strengthening at centre-back, with Wolves eyeing two new defenders in January.
As the club aims to make some game-changing moves next month, Molineux News can exclusively reveal that a ‘British centre-half could be on the menu’ and they’re currently ‘looking at who’s available’ in the market.
Wolves have been linked with Brighton’s Adam Webster previously, although it’s another English centre-back who Pereira should make his first signing at Molineux.

Why Fikayo Tomori would be the perfect fit for Wolves
AC Milan centre-back Fikayo Tomori ticks the box of being English and he’s also a quality centre-back who is reportedly available for a cut price.
Milan have valued Tomori at £25m and the former Chelsea academy graduate would be a fantastic signing for Pereira to make.
Of course, the 27-year-old perhaps wouldn’t be sold by moving to a side fighting for relegation when he’s playing in the Champions League, but on paper, he’s the perfect fit for Wolves.
Tomori possesses electric recovery pace which would help alongside the ageing Dawson and he’s also superb at reading the game, as demonstrated by his solid defensive statistics.
Fikayo Tomori’s 2024/25 Serie A statistics | Statistic |
Matches played | 8 |
Balls recovered per game | 2 |
Clearances per game | 2 |
Tackles per game | 1 |
Total duels won | 3.1 (60%) |
Considering he plays for a side that isn’t tested much defensively, those metrics are decent and he’s also quality with the ball at his feet, ranking in the top 7% of centre-backs across Europe for pass completion (92.6%).
Tomori would instantly improve the Wolves’ defence and help them achieve their survival aims, making him a dream signing for Pereira.
