Gary O’Neil’s Wolves signings rated with one hitting 8/10

Wolves signings in the summer were few and far between with the club insisting that funds needed to be raised.

When Gary O’Neil took the helm, the manager and Matt Hobbs had limited resources to work with until the Matheus Nunes transfer to Man City managed to free up some funds.

The signings were limited but four players have managed to squeeze through the door at Molineux under O’Neil’s tenure.

With the season now well underway, the new signings have had mixed fortunes so far. Some have become regular starters while others are forced to watch from the bench.

Here we have rated all four of Gary O’Neil’s signings to see who has been the best so far.

Santiago Bueno – 5/10

Little has been seen of the Uruguayan centre-back since signing from Girona.

Despite coming into the club with a big reputation from Spain he has only made one appearance for the club in a 3-2 loss against Ipswich in the Carabao Cup.

Wolves’ defensive line has been less than impressive in the league as well with the last clean sheet coming in a 1-0 win against Everton at the backend of August.

O’Neil may just fancy the defender will Max Kilman and Craig Dawson clearly the favoured partnership.

Only time will tell to see if Bueno reaches his potential at Molineux.

Tommy Doyle – 7/10

The more we see of Tommy Doyle, the more favourable he looks.

Now Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho have departed Wolves were in need of a creative midfielder and Doyle certainly shows every sign of stepping up to that role.

His performance in the 2-1 win against Bournemouth was exquisite and really helped turn the tide of the game while his set-piece deliverers are always on point.

The Man City loanee will almost certainly become a permanent Wolves player next summer after Wolves added an option to buy in his contract. Hopefully, he will continue to grow into a star player for O’Neil’s side.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde – 8/10

Easily the best signing of the summer so far since signing from Strasbourg. The midfielder something positive always looks to happen when he gets hold of possession.

The 25-year-old always wants the ball and is always looking to strive forward and open up the opposition at any given opportunity.

If it weren’t for his red card against Luton, Bellegarde would have almost certainly nailed down a consistent starting spot in the Wolves XI.

Once Pedro Neto returns from injury, we could end up seeing some really exciting football at the Molineux thanks to these two.

Enso González – 6/10

Little was known of the Paraguayan before he came into the club except, he had bags of potential.

Signing from Libertad, the 18-year-old has been mostly impressing in the Wolves youth squads for the time being.
The Paraguayan clearly loving life in Wolverhampton as well, as the youngster embraces his new surroundings with ease.

Gonzalez clearly has potential and is definitely one to watch for the future however, Wolves fans can’t expect to see the best out of him for a couple of years yet.
