Fosun risk backlash from Wolves fans as contact made for a potential new highest earner

Vitor Pereira is piecing his plan together at Wolves for the summer transfer window, with links already emerging even before the campaign has finished.

The Portuguese boss will be looking to bolster multiple positions in his squad, and that is demonstrated by the vast number of players being touted with a move.

Wolves were linked with a shock move for Joao Felix this week, as exclusively revealed to Molineux News by transfer expert Graeme Bailey.

Felix could depart Stamford Bridge after only joining permanently last summer, and he isn’t the only star Pereira has his eyes on.

Wolves want to sign midfielder Evertton Araujo from Flamengo, someone who Pereira worked with during his time in Brazil. But while another Brazilian starlet would be welcomed, Fosun could face backlash from the fanbase if they sign one particular Premier League defender.

Wolves want to sign Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof

According to Caught Offside, Wolves have joined divisional rivals Everton, Fulham and West Ham in contacting Manchester United over a move for centre-back Victor Lindelof.

The Swedish stopper is approaching the end of his contract at Old Trafford and reportedly prefers to stay in England as his next move.

Lindelof has been utilised sporadically under Ruben Amorim, although he did captain the side on Sunday as Wolves beat Manchester United 1-0.

Jose Mourinho once called Lindelof ‘very fast’, and the 30-year-old was known for his incredible recovery pace after joining the club in 2017.

But while he’s vastly experienced with 189 Premier League appearances under his belt, Wolves arguably don’t need to sign him.

January signing Emmanuel Agbadou has been a revelation alongside Matt Doherty and Toti Gomes in the back three, and with Yerson Mosquera set to return in pre-season, spending a huge chunk of wages on Lindelof makes zero sense.

How much does Lindelof earn at Man United

Wolves intend to cut the wage bill this summer. Nelson Semedo could leave Molineux with his contract expiring as he’s currently one of the highest earners.

Fans want Semedo to stay at Wolves, as he’s a vital part of Pereira’s plans and has a huge influence on the dressing room.

So, with the club reluctant to give their captain a new contract, it makes links to Lindelof all the more bizarre, as he earns a reported £120k-a-week at Old Trafford, which is far more than what any Wolves player is on.

How Victor Lindelof’s weekly earnings ranks against Wolves players
Victor Lindelof – £120,000
Goncalo Guedes – £90,000
Matheus Cunha – £90,000
Pablo Sarabia – £90,000
Nelson Semedo – £80,000

Although those are only values estimated by Capology, Lindelof is likely to become Wolves’ highest earner if they did join, and he isn’t worth that.
