Ange Postecoglou looks to be making a return to the Premier League with Nottingham Forest, causing old comments about Wolves to resurface.
Forest have parted ways with Nuno Espirito Santo, after internal issues caused the former Wolves manager’s relationship with the club to deteriorate.
Already, Forest have appointed Ange Postecoglou as his replacement.
Postecoglou was relieved of his duties at Spurs at the start of the summer, despite leading them to a first European trophy in over 40 years.
Now, as he joins Forest, his past comments about Vitor Pereira and Wolves have come to light.
Ange Postecoglou raved about Wolves’ talent last season
In the buildup to their first Premier League meeting, both Pereira and Postecoglou were very complimentary of each other.
The Aussie spoke about Wolves’ quality despite struggling for much of last season. He referenced the talent that had been in the squad all season, and was happy Pereira was able to extract more from them when he took over.

He said: “They’ve got good individual players for sure. They’ve got some real talent in that team.”
Wolves and Spurs ended up fighting for position towards the end of the season, with the Old Gold edging 16th.
I wonder if Postecoglou has the same take on Wolves this season after a difficult summer.
Vitor Pereira has been let down by Fosun as talent not adequately replaced
Postecoglou was correct in his assessment of Wolves last season, but a summer of talent loss has likely altered his view.
The new Forest manager was clearly referring to individuals like Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri who, it could be argued, haven’t been properly replaced.

The new signings still need to find their feet, but even the most optimistic Wolves fan would surely doubt they have the quality to compensate for those two losses.
Fosun simply didn’t do enough to maintain the level at Wolves, and the opening weeks of the season suggest the club will suffer for it.
Pereira won’t see his old pal until December, so there’s a chance things click by then and Postecoglou is similarly impressed this time around, but much needs to be improved for that to be the case.
