Rob Edwards isn’t long at Molineux, but he is already being set targets by Wolves that aren’t going to be easy to meet.
The January transfer window is fast approaching, and teams will be exploring ways to strengthen for the second half of the season.
Edwards’ side is more in need of improvement than any other, but he won’t find it easy to convince the owners to buy in. Wolves’ January approach will depend on their relegation prospects.
If the winter window opens and the gap to safety is deemed too large, the transfer promise Fosun made to Rob Edwards may have to be broken.

Fosun may elect to sell stars in January if Wolves don’t improve
Despite reports that Fosun wouldn’t be offloading stars in January, concern is growing that this is just another empty promise from above.
Wolves fans are already worried about losing Joao Gomes with Man United circling, and there could be more links between now and the opening of the window.
Can you see Fosun selling Wolves in the event of relegation?
Considering past experiences with this ownership, it wouldn’t come as much of a surprise to see them go back on their word.
Edwards will have a chance to change their minds — but it won’t be easy.
Liam Keen reveals how many points Edwards needs for backing
Wolves have a tricky run between now and the New Year.
Edwards has seven games in which to convince the ownership that survival is possible. That run includes trips to Liverpool and Arsenal, as well as two meetings with Man United.

In order to secure financial backing, Liam Keen sets the bar (via E&S), saying: “Put it this way, if Wolves are still on two points by January, after 19 Premier League games, it would not make much sense to spend with relegation just around the corner. The club need to be in the mix to stay up to warrant splashing the cash.
“That is why the next seven games will be so important and in reality, Wolves may need eight to 10 points in these matches for it to make sense to invest in the team.”
That works the other way, too. If Wolves look bound for the drop, Fosun could start cashing in on stars before their value takes a dive.
