Fosun could finally fulfil Gary O’Neil transfer wish in Wolves move for ‘clinical’ £13m star

Gary O’Neil could finally see his Wolves transfer wish granted this summer if the Old Gold consider a possible bargain coming out of Spain.

After the 2023 summer transfer window ripped Wolves squad apart, Gary O’Neil will be hopeful that this year can be a time to rebuild at Molineux

While the Old Gold will have many targets in mind, there will be a budget like most clubs this summer, with the financial woes of the last window not wanting to resurface.

The fact remains that Wolves want to sign a striker, as chairman Jeff Shi hinted that a forward could arrive, with one player’s transfer stance having the potential to become a dream scenario for O’Neil.

Wolves must look at Youssef En-Nesyri as a transfer target this summer

Many clubs are preparing to get their books in order by June 30th this year, with Sevilla being one of those in a rush to make profit.

As a result, the Spanish club are looking to offload key players quickly to raise funds, one of which being Youssef En-Nesyri.

This week, a report from Estadio Deportivo detailed that while Sevilla were hoping to ask for a price in the region of €30m for their striker, their asking price could plummet to encourage a quick sale.

Fosun should be alerted to a possible bargain in La Liga this summer, with the report claiming that Sevilla could accept an offer as low as €15m (£13m) for the Moroccan.

En-Nesyri could be exactly what Gary O’Neil needs

Wolves need a striker and may not need to look much further than En-Nesyri, who netted 20 goals over the 2023/24 campaign for Sevilla, via Transfermarkt

Described as ‘clinical’ by Sky Sports analyst Statman Dave, the 27-year-old’s numbers suggest that he could be the missing piece to O’Neil’s puzzle at Molineux.

In Matheus Cunha, Wolves have a willing runner and creator of positive passages of play through the central channels.

In Hwang Hee-chan, O’Neil has a similar level of creator due to his strengths in possession, all that is needed is a number nine to finish the chances.

That is exactly what En-Nesyri could offer to Wolves, with his playing style being solely about getting into dangerous areas and finishing chances.

As per Sofascore, the Morocco international had a higher conversion rate (22%) than Robert Lewandowski last season in La Liga, and also outscored Real Madrid phenomenon Vinicius Junior.

The striker also ranks in the top 9% of forwards in Europe’s top five leagues for his average of 0.50 shots on target to goals per 90, telling of his efficiency in the final third, as per FBref

While several goalscoring talents have been linked to Molineux, O’Neil could hire one of the most potent number nines in Spain this summer for a limited price, in what could prove to be a bargain for the Old Gold.
