Fosun can shock everyone by appointing 53-year-old as Jeff Shi’s Wolves replacement

The search begins for Jeff Shi’s replacement as executive chairman after a sudden announcement from Wolves on the eve of the Brentford clash.

After years of mounting pressure and a disastrous recent interview, in which Jeff Shi was caught in a lie and completely disregarded relegation, he finally steps away.

Nathan Shi, as interim chairman, is a placeholder rather than a solution. To truly fix the decline at Molineux, Wolves need more than a different Fosun executive; they need a proven football architect.

Put yourself in Fosun’s shoes… who do you want to see replace Jeff Shi at Wolves?👀

The message from fan groups like @oldgoldpack is unwavering. A change in personnel isn’t enough. The protests planned for the 18th and 77th minutes against Brentford went ahead.

A clear message to Fosun that they are the underlying problem, and nothing will be solved until they go.

However, whilst they remain here, any appointments they make must be bang on the money, as we cannot afford another Jeff Shi or Dominico Teti.

Dan Ashworth would be a sensational appointment for Wolves

Dan Ashworth currently finds himself in the role of Chief Football Officer at the FA, and it remains to be seen whether he would be open to a return at club level, but here is to hoping.

Unlike the corporate appointments of the last decade, Ashworth is a proper football person with deep roots in the West Midlands. He spent nearly a decade at West Bromwich Albion, where he played a big part in their most successful Premier League era.

One of the biggest issues has been the lack of understanding at a fan level. This has been helped by the appointment of Rob Edwards, but that is only the beginning.

Wolves need someone who knows how to build a competitive squad on a budget that doesn’t rely solely on Jorge Mendes or making a profit from signings abroad.

Appointing Ashworth wouldn’t just be a strategic move; it would show a change of direction, as the club has lost its identity in favor of Fosun and its global brand.

Masterminding a rebuild at Molineux

The rumors of selling Andre for a potential marginal profit or seeing Jorgen Strand Larsen linked with Juventus highlight what is set to be a testing time at Wolves, given their current position.

Ashworth’s track record at Brighton is the perfect example of what can be achieved. He specialised in finding value for money in the most difficult of markets.

Some of his best signings were Moises Caicedo for around £4.5 million and Kaoru Mitoma for £2.5 million, and just look where they are now.

At a time when Wolves fans fear Fosun is looking to strip the club of its biggest assets, Ashworth provides a proven blueprint for sustainable growth.

The Matheus Cunha replacement situation wouldn’t happen under Ashworth. He makes succession plans, ensuring that if a star player does leave, there is a pre-identified replacement already in the building.
