Forget Matheus Cunha… Wolves fans should worry about the future of ‘amazing’ star after Man United masterclass

Wolves made it five successive wins for the first time in the Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Manchester United.

Ahead of the showdown at Old Trafford, Wolves fans had their eyes peeled on the starting lineup, seeing if Matheus Cunha was going to return.

Cunha scored against Tottenham last time out after being left on the bench following his suspension, and the 25-year-old was thrown back into the lineup on Sunday.

Cunha, who has been linked with Man United, certainly wowed Ruben Amorim with his performance as the Brazilian proved difficult to live with.

He posed a constant threat to United’s defence and he wasn’t the only player who impressed, as another was simply incredible.

Andre was unbelievable against Manchester United

Wolves fans are running out of superlatives to describe midfield machine Andre, and the 23-year-old left supporters lost for words with his display against United.

Andre is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, as described by former Molineux hero Dave Edwards, and he continues to show why with his outstanding performances.

At the base of midfield, the Brazilian acts as a screen in front of the defence, capable of reading the game superbly as Andre won eight of his 11 duels against Man United.

Meanwhile, during periods of matches where Wolves need control, the former Fluminense star is comfortable at receiving the ball under pressure and passing it off to his teammates.

In the win at Old Trafford, Andre handed the ball wonderfully, even when the Man United players attempted to press him, he was able to escape and record 58 of his 61 passes accurately.

Andre has been dubbed ‘amazing’ by teammate Jorgen Strand Larsen, with his talents being recognised by those close to him, and soon they will be noticed by those outside of the club.

Wolves could struggle to hold onto Andre

Last summer, Andre almost signed for Fulham before joining Wolves, who captured him for a bargain £21 million.

But, while he’s been excellent since signing and formed an incredible partnership with Joao Gomes, supporters should be worried about his future.

Liverpool wanted to sign Andre previously, and ahead of the summer transfer window, other big clubs could show an interest in the midfielder superstar.

On the evidence of his performances this term, he’s ready to play Champions League football one day, something that isn’t possible with Wolves.

So, while fans will hope he commits his long-term future to the club, just like Gomes did, there is an acceptance that he will eventually move onto bigger and better things.
