Forget Bruno Fernandes, Wolves have received huge boost as another key star a doubt for Man United

Manchester United will be without Bruno Fernandes when Wolves come to Old Trafford, and that is great news for Rob Edwards, but fitness concerns for another Red Devils star may be just as big of a boost.

Fernandes is no doubt Man United’s best player, and he showed that by influencing three goals in the reverse fixture at Molineux.

The Old Gold were simply not good enough in the second half of that game, and the 4-1 defeat was ultimately deserved.

Ahead of Tuesday night’s game, Wolves’ chances are slim, but they are not zilch, and Ruben Amorim’s fitness update might have provided more hope for the Wanderers.

Mason Mount is a doubt to play vs Wolves, and why it is good news for Rob Edwards

When Manchester United played Newcastle last Friday, there was a clear shift in the balance of the game when one Red Devils star had to be withdrawn from the action, and that was Mason Mount.

Mount is confirmed to be a doubt by Ruben Amorim after picking up an injury vs the Geordies, with him saying, “I don’t know how Mase is going to be for that game,” and if he is not ready, Rob Edwards will certainly be delighted.

With Mount off the pitch, Manchester United struggled to gain control in the game, with their possession dropping from 43% in the first half to just 24% in the second.

They also managed zero shots on target once the Englishman exited proceedings.

In terms of replacements, Kobbie Mainoo and Fernandes are unlikely to feature due to injuries of their own.

The Old Gold showed they can assert themselves against some of the top teams in the Premier League with their second-half performance against Liverpool, and with Man United missing three key players who help with controlling midfield, Wolves can certainly do it again.

However, the Wanderers, on the other hand, do have their own injury issues to deal with, and Andre’s suspension will make life more difficult.

Defensive crisis at Wolves, as options seem slim. If you were Rob Edwards, what would be your solution?

Manchester United have seven confirmed absences

It will not only be Mason Mount that could be out for the visitors; Ruben Amorim has confirmed that several Man United stars are not available.

Of course, Bruno Fernandes will not feature, but neither will Matthijs de Ligt, Kobbie Mainoo, or Harry Maguire.

Additionally, Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo, and Noussair Mazraoui are all at AFCON.

If there was ever a time for the Old Gold to cause an upset and pick up a shocking three points, the circumstances are certainly aligning to allow them to do so.
