Five Wolves transfers that could realistically happen in the January transfer window

The January transfer window is just around the corner for Wolves in what could be a crucial period in their fight to stay in the Premier League.

Wolves are entering their most important period of the season so far. After a horrific start to the campaign, the club now have an easier set of fixtures going into the festive season.

Gary O’Neil’s job is no doubt on the line and if results and performances don’t improve, he could well be out of a job.

Another big factor that could have a deciding effect on Wolves’ Premier League status is the upcoming January transfer window.

A good window could be the difference between relegation and survival with multiple additions needed.

Therefore, Molineux News has highlighted five transfers that could realistically happen in the upcoming window.

Boubacar Traore – Loan

Boubacar Traore has had an unfortunate season thus far. The midfielder has only made one appearance which came in the 2-0 victory over Burnley in the Carabao Cup.

However, Traore was forced off the field with an injury which has since kept him out of action.

Traore is expected to return around Christmas time almost four months after he sustained damage to his meniscus.

As a result, O’Neil may look to send the Mali international out on loan to regain match sharpness after such a long time on the sidelines.

Traore was rumoured to be heading on loan before his injury and it would be surprising if this did not occur in the upcoming window.

Kevin Danso – Buy

Wolves need a centre-back in January. The club have now played the majority of the campaign with only three fit centre-halves after Yerson Mosquera suffered an ACL injury.

On top of this, the Old Gold have conceded the most goals in the Premier League this season, shipping an eye-watering 27.

As a result, Wolves are prepared to shift their transfer policy and sign a centre-back in January.

The club were linked to numerous players during the summer but nothing came to light.

One of the strongest links was Kevin Danso. The Lens defender has been a top performer for his club for many years.

Therefore, Wolves may look to sign Danso in the upcoming window to help reinforce their backline.

Jose Sa – Sell

While Jose Sa may be a surprising choice to many of the Molineux faithful, his remaining time at the Old Gold looks short.

Wolves’ signing of Sam Johnstone in the summer has given the club two first-team goalkeepers despite the club operating on a strict budget.

With cash tight, the club may look to sell Sa in order to raise potential funds for other areas.

Sa was heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia in the summer and it would not be surprising if this interest was reignited in the coming months.

Joao Pedro Chermont – Buy

Another potential incoming, Wolves love to sign upcoming talent from South America.

In recent years, Pedro Lima, Joao Gomes, Andre and Enso Gonzalez have all made the move from their home countries to the Old Gold.

Therefore, it is not a reach to suggest that Wolves may be tempted to go in for Joao Pedro Chermont if a deal is there to be done.

The 18-year-old right-back is believed to have plenty of potential at Santos and has earned multiple caps for Brazil’s Under 17s.

Wolves were linked to Joao Pedro Chermont earlier this season and they could renew their interest soon.

Pablo Sarabia – Sell

The final player on this list, Pablo Sarabia’s Wolves future hangs in the balance going into January.

The Spaniard had barely played this season until a cameo against Brighton earned him a spot back in the starting XI.

However, Sarabia’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and Wolves may look to cash in on the winger while they still can.

Sevilla were linked with Sarabia last month and they could enter contract talks for free in January ahead of a proposed summer move.
