There are currently plenty of free agents that could improve Wolves’ team
Multiple big names were released in the summer with the likes of Lionel Messi and Roberto Firmino moving to new clubs on a free transfer.
Wolves also had many players leave upon the expiry of their contract. Joao Moutinho and Adama Traore both left to join Braga and Fulham.
However, there are still multiple players out there available to sign that could help improve Wolves’ team. Therefore, we have examined five players that Gary O’Neil should look to bring to Molineux over the coming months.
David De Gea
The former Manchester United goalkeeper is still without a club after being released by the Red Devils in the summer.
The 33-year-old had been one of the finest shot-stoppers in the top flight for over a decade and won the Golden Glove award last season.
If rumours as to be believed, then Jose Sa may be on his way out of the club.
The Spaniard would prove to be the perfect replacement with his experience and ability second to none.
Jesse Lingard

The midfielder is yet to find a new club after struggling for game time last season at Nottingham Forest.
While his time in the East Midlands didn’t go to plan there is still clearly a good player there.
His form while on loan at West Ham was exceptional with the former England international seemingly reviving his career.
With Wolves lacking a creative midfielder, Lingard could be perfect for the side on a short-term deal and offer a little bit more depth in the attacking line.
Anwar El Ghazi
The former Villa winger was released from Bundesliga side Mainz 05 in October after posting some controversial comments on social media about the Israel-Palestine conflict.
However, his ability as a footballer cannot be questioned.
Last season, he netted eight times in the Eredivisie for PSV and in his three appearances for Mainz he managed to bag an assist.
With Wolves lacking options on the winger and Pedro Neto constantly being linked away, a move for the 28-year-old may be a sensible decision.
Timo Horn
Another ‘keeper who could provide something extra to the team.
Horn had been at FC Koln for all his career until he was released in the summer.
The 30-year-old had made over 300 appearances for the German club, breaking multiple records and winning the Player of the Season twice.
After falling out of favour in his last two seasons, he left in July in search of a new challenge.
Horn could be another option for Wolves if Sa does leave with his experience highly commendable.
Xeka

A player Wolves have already been linked with since becoming a free agent.
Xeka has been available since the summer after being released by Rennes.
The midfielder had enjoyed a good spell in the French league and won the Ligue 1 with Lille back in the 2020/21 season as they beat PSG to the title.
Injuries did plague the 29-year-old last season, but he could well offer more experience to Wolves’ youthful midfield.
