Wolves are now starting to be linked with several players – and Evann Guessand could be a potential new signing this summer.
Wolves fans are hoping to see some additions now, after watching the likes of Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri leave.
This is a huge window for Wolves, who simply must get their recruitment right to ensure Vitor Pereira ends the summer in a place where he can progress the team.
Fer Lopez is set to complete his move to Wolves from Celta Vigo soon, and the young Spaniard looks like he could be a real gem.
But Wolves are also said to have made an offer for Guessand.
It was initially felt Lopez might be a replacement for Cunha. But looking into things more closely, it seems Guessand would be the player to replace the Brazilian.
Evann Guessand had ‘elite’ defensive contribution in 2024/25, he could now replace Matheus Cunha at Wolves

Guessand caught the eye last season as he scored 13 goals across all competitions for Nice.
The Ivorian is seemingly now of interest to Wolves – and he might just be an ideal replacement for Cunha on that left side.
Breaking The Lines ran a very interesting feature on him back in April, which highlights the kind of positions he takes up and attributes he has.
It’s made clear that he is best as an inside forward. Of course, the Wolves system uses two inside forwards.
Guessand has mainly operated from the right side, but has also been on the left on occasion, suggesting he could play in the Cunha left 10 role.
He is described as an agile player, with BTL saying: “His agility allows him to change direction with ease, and his quick feet help him get subtle touches on the ball just before a defender can make a tackle.”

He is also all-action. When the article was published, Guessand ranked in the top 10 across all Ligue 1 players, regardless of position, for ball-carrying frequency, offensive duels, and offensive duel success rate.
One very notable part of the feature from BTL, though, is where it talks about his defensive contribution.
His defensive numbers were described as ‘elite’, with BTL saying: “He ranks in extremely high percentiles for tackles all over the pitch, showing just how much ground he covers off the ball.”
He is also praised for his pressing. ‘He’s proactive, and reads pressing triggers well’.
Of course, as amazing as Cunha was, he was certainly not known for his defensive contributions, pressing or work rate.
And there was even a statistic that did the rounds earlier this year that suggested Cunha was walking the most of any Premier League player, suggesting a lack of defensive work rate.

Guessand feels like a Vitor Pereira player
The feature article on Guessand paints a very encouraging picture.
He plays as an inside forward, is a threat who makes things happen in the final third and also works hard out of possession. We have seen how Vitor Pereira has placed real emphasis on pressing from the front since he came in.
It’s unclear just how concrete Wolves’ interest in Guessand is right now.
But hopefully a move does end up materialising, because he very much seems like a Pereira kind of player.
