Wolverhampton Wanderers are lacking a driving force in midfield – and Lille star Boubakary Soumare would help to provide that.

According to a recent report from Foot Mercato, the club hold an interest in the 22-year-old, who has enjoyed a great campaign over in France.

Soumare has been a key player for the Ligue 1 outfit, who have a three-point lead over Paris Saint-Germain with just two games to go.

He has been especially effective in recent weeks, starting the last six games since the defeat to Nimes – five of those have been victories and the other a draw.

Soumare’s form has led to interest from the likes of Everton and Aston Villa, and Fabrizio Romano has claimed Leicester City are also in the hunt, which perhaps tells its own story.

This season the Wolves midfield has left a lot to be desired.

Ruben Neves has done well in parts, but Joao Moutinho and Leander Dendoncker have not had their greatest campaigns.

Wolves have found dominating games in the middle of the park difficult.

Bringing in someone like Soumare would go some way to helping the team do that.

Soumare the box-to-box star needed

Romano has actually reported that Leicester have actually agreed personal terms with Soumare.

Wolves should really be looking to hijack the deal if possible.

Quite simply, he is a brilliant all-rounder who would totally transform Wolves and give them more authority and quality in the engine room.

He’s a tremendous athlete that can get from box-to-box, but also has impressive technical quality.

Quite often this season Wolves have needed someone to carry the ball through the lines and go and make something happen – Soumare is very much an individual who can do that.
