After Andre, another big name player at Wolves should now fear chop from Vitor Pereira

It has not been a good start to the new season for Wolves, who are now the only team without a point in the Premier League after three games.

Wanderers lost 3-2 to Everton on Saturday, and look all set for a season of struggle.

Last term ended in a positive fashion, after Vitor Pereira guided Wanderers to safety with relative ease.

But the summer has not gone very well for Wolves, and the manager undoubtedly doesn’t have the quality squad he would have been hoping for.

And frustratingly for Wolves, some key players have been nowhere near the level we know they can reach.

And one man who needs to get himself together is Emmanuel Agbadou.

Emmanuel Agbadou may have been Wolves’ worst player so far

Agbadou was absolutely superb after signing for Wolves at the end of the January transfer window in 2024/25.

Wolves were all over the place at the back, and the Ivorian came in and was a gamechanger.

He provides steel and authority, and his quality seemed to rub off on those around him, with Wolves improving massively as a collective at the back.

Agbadou scooped the Player of the Month award at Wolves at the end of January, underlining what a brilliant buy he was.

But frustratingly, Agbadou’s form has completely deserted him.

Agbadou was woeful at times in pre-season, and his performances this term have been a concern. He is the only player to play every single minute so far for Wanderers, so he’s been there for all 10 goals conceded in the four matches.

He did OK against West Ham in the cup in midweek and fans had hoped that he’d kick on.

But against Everton at the weekend he struggled again, failing to block Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s cross for Iliman Ndiaye on the second goal, and then playing an awful ball to Jackson Tchatchoua in the build-up to Everton’s third.

WhoScored’s ratings of the Wolves players so far in the Premier League see Agbadou come 13th, with only six players lower.

Pereira dropped Andre, and he could drop Agbadou next

During his time at Wolves, Pereira has not been shy to make big calls.

The Portuguese is a big personality, and will act in a way he feels is for the good of the team.

Against Bournemouth, Pereira dropped Andre which came as a real shock to everyone. He said that no one’s place in the team is gifted, and it was a clear message for Andre to improve.

It was something that no Wolves fan really saw coming, but a reminder that form is everything, not reputation.

Agbadou may have shone for Wolves last season, but he’s now in terrible form.

He is far too casual in possession at times, misplaces passes and can also lose himself positionally.

Sometimes, a player needs to be dropped in order for them to re-focus and Agbadou could have no complaints if he wasn’t starting against Newcastle.
