The season is almost over, and it will soon be time for players to come and go again at Wolves – and one man who is surely heading for the exit is Adama Traore.
Many could not wait to see how he would fare when Julen Lopetegui came in.
Wanderers fans have watched Traore at Molineux since 2018 and something he’s never quite been able to achieve is a consistent end product.
He is capable of doing incredible things on a football pitch. But that question mark over his end product remains.
Lopetegui used him fairly regularly when he first arrived, prompting Wolves fans to start thinking about the player extending his contract at Molineux.
It is something that manager wants to see happen.
But there has been no movement on the situation. Perhaps that’s because Traore just isn’t getting the game time he would like.
Just recently, he has really faded into the background at Wolves.
Across the last five Premier League games, he has played just 51 minutes.
Lopetegui has been using Matheus Nunes out wide in recent matches. And against Brighton, Joao Gomes even found himself out on the right at times.
That must have been a huge frustration for Traore.
It’s as though the manager genuinely does see him as being far more effective when coming off the bench.
And it is this that could ultimately be what seals his exit from the club this summer.
Adama Traore’s recent usage surely points to him leaving Wolves on a free
It would be a huge surprise if Traore penned a new contract at Wolves at this point.
The Spaniard has watched his manager shoehorn players in at right wing ahead of him, and he must be wondering what he must do to get a string of starts.
There are plenty of clubs out there that would likely hand Traore a regular starting berth.
It would be a great shame to see such an exhilarating player leave.
But you can understand him wanting to depart in the hope of securing a regular starting berth elsewhere. Players want to play, at the end of the day.
