Wolves are not in a good place at the moment, but something is happening right now that could see the club instigate a great escape.
The threat of relegation is very real, with Wolves having taken just two points from the first 11 Premier League games.
Opta have given Wolves a 91% chance of being relegated after the most recent loss to Chelsea, and certainly, incoming new manager Rob Edwards has a huge job on his hands.
He has many problems to fix, with Wolves worryingly conceding too many and scoring too few.
Perhaps it is too little, too late for Wolves. No club has ever survived with this amount of points after 11 league games before.
And yet some still have faint hope that survival is possible.
And given the nature of Rob Edwards’ move to Molineux, those people may be right to think that way.

Criticism for Wolves and Rob Edwards could galvanise squad

Wolves and Rob Edwards have drawn a lot of criticism over the past few days.
Boro were not happy with Wolves’ approach for Edwards, with Boro fans accusing him of lacking loyalty.
Simon Jordan lambasted Edwards for his decision, and others like Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer have expressed their sympathy for Middlesbrough fans.
A lot of people are very unhappy, but this could actually be something that helps Wolves if they can use all this emotion in the right way.
There is the potential here for Wolves to adopt a siege mentality.
Plenty now want Wolves and Edwards to fail because of the way his exit from the Riverside Stadium has happened.
But Edwards and his Wolves players can choose to be defiant, or crumble under the spotlight. One suspects that Edwards will be determined to ensure it’s the former.
Wolves have always thrived when everyone has been together. As one pack, pulling in the same direction.
And that is more important than ever right now.
And Wolves may actually end up relishing so many people being against them and the way they appointed Edwards. Perhaps ultimately, a desire to stick it to the haters will be exactly what this group needs.
Wolves still need a miracle
While there is the notion that an ‘us against the world’ situation can help Wolves, it will still be a very tall order for Edwards to guide the club away from danger.
Wolves are already eight points adrift of safety, and the newly promoted sides appear to have something about them this time.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 15 | 11 | 3 | 2 | 6 | 12 | 16 | -4 | 11 | |
| 16 | 11 | 3 | 2 | 6 | 10 | 20 | -10 | 11 | |
| 17 | 11 | 3 | 1 | 7 | 14 | 22 | -8 | 10 | |
| 18 | 11 | 3 | 1 | 7 | 13 | 23 | -10 | 10 | |
| 19 | 11 | 2 | 3 | 6 | 10 | 20 | -10 | 9 | |
| 20 | 11 | 0 | 2 | 9 | 7 | 25 | -18 | 2 |
The loss of so many important players has reduced the quality of the squad, and it is going to be extremely tough for Wolves to remain in the top-flight.
But Edwards clearly feels he can get something out of this bunch. He surely would not have taken the job otherwise.
